Hi All.
I am trying to get a DVD to play on my Playstation 3. I build an ISO file using imgburn then burn this file to an ordinary DVD, the problem is, it works fine on a PC, the menu,s are there and it plays great, however it will not play on the PS3, when I check the disc there is an BDMV and CERTIFICATE folder but the PS3 just recognises it as a data disc. Any ideas.
Cheers Steve
Steve,
The PS3 only recognises Bluray disc structures on genuine Bluray discs. If you want to play HD files on the PS3, just put the video files strainght on a DVD data disc. You need to make sure that the files are Bluray compatible CODECs though, i.e. HDV, AVCHD, H264 or VC1 (WMV9).

Rather like the situation about ten years ago, when people tried to burn "logically correct" (short) DVD files onto blank CD media. They played on computers, but dedicated players said "This is CD media, so I'll only look for CD-Audio-legal files, and I'll ignore any other files, even if they're legal DVD files."
I believe a similar thing is happening now, when people try to burn (short) BD files onto DVD media.
Yes, they were nicknamed 'mini DVDs'. There were SVCDs that were legal and playable on many DVD players, (especially those from China where the standard was mainstream), but the price of DVD writers and DVD-R discs fell fairly quickly. Bluray writers have fallen far quicker than DVDs but the discs seem to be quite resistant to reductions.

Yeah I can play the HD video content on the PS3 but I would like the menus and the chapters to work, the only reason I am trying to do this is I tend to make short 15-20 minute videos which come out at about 4 gig, it,s not economical burning to a 25 gig blu ray, however I have just seen some very good reviews of Infiniti blu ray discs on Amazon 10 for £13 so I might try these.
