"Build it and they will come"...G3/Premiere solutions

The quote is from a great feel good movie, slightly odd but never the less a great movie. Here's a variation for G3/premiere users..."Do this and it WILL work"
So what am I rambling on about. Document '323071' from Adobe support database 'Capture Card: Apple Macintosh G3 with Firewire - Guidelines' that's what!
For all the newbies that have been trying for hours, days or weeks to get their expensive 'Blue and White Elephants' to work, I've been trying since early June 3-4 hours daily!!! to get my system to work and failed.

The seven page setup guideline from Adobe was a very final knee jerk spasm in the throws of death, I'd given up, I didn't care and couldn't be bothered.
Many times (mournfull violins please) I'd seen light at the end of the tunnel, only to realise at the last minute, that it was an express train coming in the opposite direction, crammed with gleamimg PCs fitted with shiney new capture cards and working NLE software, on it's way to happy smiling editors.

For months I'd dreamed of the perfect cut a beautifull disolve, frame after frame of images flowing smoothly and fluid (at one twenty fifth of a second) accross the glowing phosphor of my monitor.
But alas I was tortured by...err...err nothing!... absolutely bloody nothing, well to begin with anyway. I progresed miserably to extra frames, jerky playback, double vision, headaches, anger, rage, bed wetting (only joking!). Until that is, I did what was reccommended by Adobe and it worked properly for the very very very first time!
I'm sure there will be other issues but my G3 now captures, edits and exports back to my TRV900, perfectly. Now what more could you possibly ask for?...Hey! Don't even go there!

Thanks to everybody who's helped.

Tunni,

You mention "an express train coming in the opposite direction, crammed with gleamimg PCs fitted with shiney new capture cards and working NLE software, on it's way to happy smiling editors."

Where's the station and how do we get aboard?

Well done Christian for the first correct answer...You've won a free upgrade to Premiere 5.1b!

Neil. Yes, thanks. I'm just working through it now.

Pete. It was all just a bad dream, caused by a chemical imbalance!!

Hi jennet

I would just like to go public and announce my affinity with Jennet.

As two early pioneers of the B&W G3s we've metaphorically fought and hacked our way through this computer jungle, trawling endlessly through the buletin boards, help lines and support bases in search of the elusive answers to our problems.

I'd like to say that our heroine Jennet, alone in the face of overwhelming odds and with no thought for her own safety, selflessly provided the solution to my problems with her email on the 9th.

Sadly, I have to report that the email never made it. Some where in cyberland lies a bleedin postie, ambushed and left for dead... clutching that final message... So come on guys three cheers for Jennet and ALL the girls...Hip Hip...

Yours, tongue firmly in cheek
Phil
