I don't seem to be able to change my 'virtual face/picture'.

I can delete the original 'picture', that was first successfully uploaded in the 'my account/edit/account (information)' window.

But when I then try to upload a replacement  virtual face/picture, by browsing it in the browse window, then saving the altered page, the original picture reappears.

I am running Win Vista with Firefox (12.0) as browser.

regards,
Fred

Hi Fred

Not something I've bothered with, however others have so it must be possible

Are you complying with the specs:

Quote:
Your virtual face or picture. Maximum dimensions are 85x85 and the maximum size is 300 kB.

Good luck

Re: Changing my Virtual face (Avatar) picture
Hi John,

Yes I am certainly within the specs with the image that I am trying to upload.
It is 80 X 75 and 11 Kb.

Maybe this issue is why so few members on these forums seem to have avatars !

I've tried the 'Contact us' page with the question, but so far have had no response.
I hope that someone will be able to 'throw some light' on it !

Fred.

Hi Fred

I managed with no problem, I have no way of knowing if my status as Mod was a factor

Maybe Admin can check the members settings if other users are having problems?

Hi John,
That is the original picture. The one I originally posted successfully, then deleted successfully, to make way for the new picture.
I have emailed you , as requested, the new picture to your tiscali address.

Re: Changing my Virtual face (Avatar) picture
Hi Fred

Have you just deleted the avatar picture?

I uploaded the one you sent me, if you are seeing the old picture when I uploaded the new one you probably have a cache problem

Upload the avatar picture again, then press shift F5 or Ctrl F5 to clear the cache

Regards

Re: Changing my Virtual face (Avatar) picture
John,

As you see, I have deleted the old picture once again.
Then I tried to upload the new picture and the same thing happened : the old picture was loaded.
So I have now deleted the old picture yet again, leaving no picture !
As I said in the previous post, the picture I want to get up is the one I have mailed to your Tiscali2004 address.

Kind regards
Fred

Hi John,

Hi Fred

It was your F5 that did the trick smiley

Always useful for sites or ISP's that's don't refresh their cache, which ISP are you with, I remember Freeserve having this cache problem many years ago

More cache info here

Hi John,
Thanks for the knowledge.
I am using Hutchinson 3, on a USB dongle, on this laptop.
Thanks once again for your help smiley

Hi Fred

There's a setting set somewhere in your system or 3 to save you downloading pictures, data more than you need to, a good thing to cut data usage most  of the time but it can be frustrating at times. I often use my 3 phone as a wifi hotspot for my laptop when on holiday and it works well.

Hi Fred,

Sorry I couldn't get involved sooner on this. I get through the non-critical admin tasks over the weekend.

I'm glad you have it resolved now.

Cheers,
