It's still out. At the third stroke the time will be 18:18, but this post will appear as 17:18

Yes, but since I am in the UK, and this is a UK based board, and we're all on BST right now, we should all be having the right time with our profile set to +0000

And it still doesn't work.
I posted that at 2017 and it shows up for me at 1917

Hi

Martin hosts the board for us in the US

My profile time setting is +0100 and your setting is still +0000, hence your time display problem

I can reset the time to +0100 for you if that helps

British Summer Time (BST) info

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
During British Summer Time (BST), civil time in the United Kingdom is advanced one hour forward of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less.[1][2]

BST begins at 01:00 GMT on the last Sunday of March and ends at 01:00 GMT on the last Sunday of October; since 22 October 1995 the times of commencement and cessation of daylight saving time across the European Union are aligned[3] - for instance Central European Summer Time begins and ends on the same Sundays at exactly the same time (that is, 02:00 CET).

In 2013 BST began on 31 March and will end on 27 October.[4]

Cheers

Re: Clock seems to be out by an hour.
John,it's not MY time display problem, it's the forum's time display problem.

You don't seem to understand what I'm saying.

Perhaps you should read my post No 7 above again and try and understand that we, the users, should not have to adjust our "profiles" (which we can't do ourselves anyhow) in order to display the correct UK time - whether it's BST or GMT  - of a posting.

This has happened before and Martin and/or Tom sorted it out without having to change anyone's "profile".

Can more UK users please see whether the time of their posting as displayed in the forum is the same as the actual time they made the post?

Re: Clock seems to be out by an hour.
Hi Mark

As ever I have notified Martin and Bob of the time issues you have

I can't adjust the forum clock either, I wasn't aware members couldn't adjust their time in profile settings

I accept that the time should be set in the forum software, I thought maybe you had set your time to be non default, hence your problem

I'm only trying to help and notify those who can make the adjustments

If that isn't good enough for you, Sorry!

Re: Clock seems to be out by an hour.
btw I have just logged in under my ordinary member account

My member account time setting was +0100 which I'd never changed as far as I recall

Also I can change thetime  seting  and save it if I want to

I'll wait for Martin or Bob to sort it out the time problem  to your satisfaction as I'm only the middle man

John,

You're much more than that to me!

And, I hope, to other forum members.

Mark, do please have just a little patience - we rely on Martin to make changes as necessary (all in his own time, and for free - bit like John, in fact) but he has an extremely busy job and isn't always able to deal with non-urgent matters in as timely a manner as we all might like.

And I do view this as a non-urgent matter, so am struggling to see why you are pushing so hard about it.

Re: Clock seems to be out by an hour.
Ok the issue is as follows..

User profiles contain a configurable timezone which defaulted to GMT, this field doesn't obay daylight saving so UK users had all times on the board displaying as GMT.

I've turned off user timezone support for the time being so now the board shows correct times and dates for UK users. I'm hopeful there may be a better solution than this, but it should correct the error for the time being.

cheers

Well, thank you everybody for your efforts in satisfying my inner pedant.

Sorry that I came across as snarky.

Thank you Tom for seeing the issue and for making it right for those of us in the UK.

Normally when one joins a discussion board you are asked what timezone you're in. And the forum software does the rest in displaying the times correctly for your locale, and makes automatic adjustments for daylight savings time, etc etc.

Even before Tom turned off user timezone support I was not able to find anywhere in my user profile where I could configure my timezone. I'm usually pretty good with this kind of stuff, but obviously I missed it. Whereabouts in one's profile settings is it?

Posting at 0044 GOOD GOD is that the time? I should knock off and go home!

The user time adjustment was in Members profile-Edit tab and scroll down......

After Tom's fix overseas members are stuck in the UK time zone with no option to adjust.....such as Martin

I think my second members account defaulted at +0100 as I had registered since the clocks went forward, I had no reason to change the time anyway unless it was a question when registering.

One more problem solved until the next one comes along LOL
