We are aware that there are a number of issues with the forums currently. To assist the developers in fixing these issues please report them in this forum.

To make it as clear and simple please post a new thread for each issue / bug. This will enable the volunteers tasked with fixing the issues to easily see what problems the users are suffering from.

The developers will try to mark issues as resolved when we believe we have fixed them. This will be done by editing the thread title so it starts with [resolved]. If you feel something that is marked as [resolved] is still an issue please start a new thread for the issue and try to be very specific about the problem so the developers can better understand why their fix is not working for you.

Whenever you report an issue please include as much information as you can about the computer your using. As a minimum please include the browser version your using and the operating system / platform your running. (eg Font is hard to read and not dark enough, Firefox 6, Windows XP) The more information you include the easier it will be for the developers to find and fix the bug.

Finally please remember that everyone running the site is a volunteer, try to be polite when reporting issues. Demanding the issues be fixed will not speed up the process.

In summary...

1 Issue per thread
Include as much information as possible
Be nice!

Re: How to report bugs using this forum.

On this site where there are so many things that need changing there is going to be a grey area between 'bug' and 'need for a design change'. Please don't be surprised if people are confused. For example, there is a time delay when selecting this site, or selecting a topic within it. Is this a fault or feature?

It would help if all the bugs that you already know about were listed.

Also if all the design changes that you intend to make were listed (text, text size, colour scheme, layout, time delay, etc?)

Here's something, however, that definitely IS a bug.
Just below the purple bar across the top which has 'DV' in red and 'forums' in green, there is the word 'Contact' with the word 'Us' beneath it. These words sit on a grey background and interupt the line of text below which gives the routing of the thread.

Another obvious bug (or is a design feature that needs to be changed?) is that I can't edit my own posts.

This and my message above were typed on a computer running Firefox on Windows 98 (SE).

Sorry maybe the terminology is confusing.

I meant to create a new topic for each issue you can start a new topic by clicking this link http://www.dvforums.com/pressflow/node/add/forum/1000043

then it will appear as its own issue in the DV Forums Issues forum.

Not sure how to respond since Ray hasn't started a new thread but I can report that his problem regarding 'Contact us' disrupting text below is not present here.

I'm using Windows 7 and Opera 11.61

Tell you what I'd like - and that's an easy way to add images to your post - as in the DVi forum.  As is oft said, pics are worth many words.

Click the little icon of an image at the top of the editor...

enter the URL to the image you want to insert.

when the image is in the editor you can grab the handles in the corners to resize it by dragging (like in word or whatever)

there you go - an image at the size you'd like ;)

Yes, the URL technique is as before.  I simply want to grab image files off my HDDs.

we might do image uploads at some point, it's not completely trivial though..

in the meantime using www.tinypic.com works well.
