Hi

Are the DV capture cards (miro 200, 300, Raptor, etc) compatible with the DVCAM format?

Hi Paul,

I use a GVD300 Sony deck to play both consumer mini-dv tapes from Sony PC1 camera and mini-dvcam tapes from my DSR300. No problems.

I also occasionally view mini-DVCAM recordings (from the DSR300) in the PC1 in the field as a quick check on what's been recorded. Again no problem.

I currently use the Miro 300 card.

David.

David - I think you missed the point - he was asking if the firewire DV capture cards can capture from cams using DVCAM tape format as well as MiniDV tape format.

Hi,

Not that I've got a clue what the difference is between the two formats... my DV Raptor software has the option to capture from Dv or DVCAM....?

Yes firewire acceptd the digital signal fired downthe cable
DVCAM uses 32 or 48 Khz sound with locked audio, and has a higher write speed, supposedly to give a higher quality. Personaly I just cant see any diference at all in the pictures shot on the Canon Xl1 and DSR200, if anything I prefer the Canon.
