My Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD recorder is faulty and it looks like i need to buy a new DVD Recorder of some sort, preferably with flexi record.
Any ideas.

Including these fixes for removing the disk if it's stuck inside the machine?
I sometimes have trouble reading my Panasonic RAM DVD's in my Panny HD/DVD Recorder, an old Tandy CD/DVD Lens/Laser Cleaner now and again usually fixes my problem, have you tried similar?
Have you tried a new RAM DVD?
Can you play commercial DVD's with your Panny?

Hi John, Cant say I have had any bother with this Panny, I only use it to copy VHS tapes to DVD BTW.
I managed to grab the edge of the disk and pull it out, switched the recorder off and on,removed the plug but still getting the error message.
If it would come back to life I would try a disk cleaner anyway, wont do any harm but it looks like its had it.
The disc tray wont open BTW so I can't try another disc.

The DMR- EX83EB looks fine and a good price, I think there are cheaper LG options and as we know Panasonics don't last forever
Luckily I have managed to repair my old Pannys and they have had a lot of use
I think you will enjoy the quality upscaled DVD's

I saw it on P29, so it's all looking good. I hope it didn't sound like a daft question but when I first looked at a harddrive/DVD recorders it appeared to be a procedure that you had to record onto the harddrive before it could copy onto a DVD (from memory it was an LG model)

None of my HDD/DVD recorders require you to record to HDD rather than direct to DVD.
I've a mixture of Sony and Panasonic models.
I'd be very very very surprised if you had to record to HDD first.

Ditto with my three Panasonic HDD/DVD recorders
Although I rarely record to DVD directly as I like to top and tail etc.

My Toshiba records direct to DVD, used mostly for when a client wants his VHS tape put onto DVD without any editing.

I'm now wracking my brain to recall the model that only let you record from the hard drive - I could almost have lived with it but the quality was mediocre. So I returned it and stuck with a Panasonic.
