Hello all, nice to see the forums up and running again.
I've decided to join the TM/SD900 club and would like to know if the replacement battery and charger problem has been solved. Anyone recomend a reliable supplier please?
Thanks
Tony
I'd also be interested in any information.
Peter
PS. Great to be back !
There are now many third party batteries and chargers available on ebay for this camera. I recently ordered a replacement VBN-260 battery from Hong Kong on eBay for about £13 and it is perfect, fully chipped and gives about 3 hours of power. You can also source them on eBay from the UK for good prices and chargers are usually under a tenner.
Hope this helps.
Paul
Thanks for that Paul, can you let me have the E-Bay link to the battery you got?
Peter
Here is link for the one I bought:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120839124780?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
and here I think is the same battery direct from UK:
Hope this helps.
Paul
Hi Paul, thanks very much for the links.
Do you have any links for battery charger?
I know I could search myself but if you've got one, and it works OK, I'd feel more confident.
Thanks
Peter
Just to say that the SD900 series has had its day. Quite a run for a Panasonic model. Think the replacement is called the X900 which has more wide-angle, less telephoto - always welcome in tom's book. But the TM/SD is still a mighty fine camera.
tom.
I have not bought a battery charger yet but this looks a good deal with both battery and charger:
Paul
Thanks Paul,
I've ordered the battery and charger from the link you gave me.
Peter
Peter, let me know how you get on with it once it arrives, I might get this charger myself.
Paul
Hi Paul, got the battery and charger today.
Battery doesn't have any markings on it, just plain but is still twice the size of the normal battery.
Battery charger charged it up to show 2 hrs 42mins.
On the camera, on start up, the on screen display shows the batter capacity but then goes off. You can get round this by tapping the screen and all the icons appear, so I suppose I can live with that.
Will let you know if there are any problems but for that price £18 for a battery and charger, it's woth a punt.
Sorry to hi-jack the original thread but it's about the same question.
Peter
Not a hijack Peter, thanks for the comments. I had seen the ad on ebay and thought it looked OK so you have just confirmed my thoughts..I'll send for one as soon as I get the camera. (waiting for Prestons to get some stock as I only live a few miles away)
Regards
Tony
Glad you are pleased with it Peter, I think mine shows 2h48m when fully charged. Yes the display goes off screen after a short time, this is normal for any battery on the camera and will automatically come on again once the battery is down to I think 30min left and will stay on throughout this countdown time. You can of course touch the screen twice at any time to bring up full display again as you mention.
Paul
