PC setup for Raptor compatibility

Hi,

I have 2 PCs.

* An older PIII 800 that worked fine with a DV Raptor & Premiere
* A new AMD2400 on an ABIT 87N8X Motherboard, which I understand is not compatible due to the NForce 2 chipset causing dropped frames.

(They are both networked together)

To use this setup without buying new hardware, do you think it will work if I capture & send to tape on the PIII with the raptor and edit/Render on the AMD2400. I want to use the 2400MHZ AMD to speed up rendering and view transitions as I go.

Or have I got it compleately wrong, do I need to render on the PIII/Raptor in order to get better quality results with raptor codec. Or is the difference minimal?

I was planning to share the disk over the network.

If this is not the case I guess I have two options, buy a new motherbaord or use the old machine?

Regards

Jez.
