I thought some of you may be interested in this Sony Blog post:
What caught my eye was the paragraph beginning: "In the next couple of weeks, the XBR-84X900 television will ship to customers ....." in particular the part about "the world’s first 4K Ultra HD delivery solution". A 4k replacement for Blu-ray?

Certainly looks like it might be. If so, then the 'spinning shiny disc' thing will definitely be over!
Time scale though?.....Sony had high hopes for Blu-ray, so will they hang on, and try and keep it going in an effort to recoup some of their costs.. or will they simply realise the time for 'discs' has now passed, and move on quite quickly?...

Re: Sony 4k TV
It's only $25,000.
I think I'll wait 'till the price has come down a bit before I get one to look at what I've captured with my F55.
