No idea of value.

Re: Zoom H2

Les, If it's this model I paid £100 for it just over a year ago.

Re: Zoom H2
Yes, that's it Harry. Thank you for the information.
Now I'll wait to see if there are any offers.
As said, there is a star shaped crack on the glass but that glass is still is rigid. Does not affect performance.

Re: Zoom H2
At 79.99 new Les, I reckon you'll have to take a big hit if it's obviously damaged.

As a matter of interest Les, what did you think of the h2? I have been 'umming and 'arring about the hn4 for a while now.

Re: Zoom H2
It works fine, but not for me. Display text is too small for me - at my advanced age..
I have friend - professional. He uses all the time. Sings its praises.
Much more expensive H4 - about £250 - is better.

Re: Zoom H2
Cheers Les, sounds like you have the same problems with small displays as I do! Have looked at a few and for the price the H4e looks like it fits the bill. Just using it for ambient natural surround is what I was looking at but lightweight given the camera gear to carry around to.
Hope that one sells, seems to have good reviews Les.

Re: H2 and Q2HD .
Yes Arthur, I agree. It doesn't work as well as intended. Maybe time will cure the problems.
A correction to a previous posting of yours Arthur. I visited Maplins today.
The Zoom H2 is being sold at £119.99 and £129.99
It is the Zoom H1 that is priced at £79.99.
If anyone would like to relate their thoughts about Zoom Q2HD (Maplins price £149.99) I would be interested to read their experience.

Re: H2 and Q2HD .
Interesting Les. The Maplin's link above clearly states "H2" amd it's a pic of the H2 showing. They don't even look similar, so you'd have to say the instore people are wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. I've lost count of the number of times I've been told something isn't available or is a different price etc etc. Then just gone home and ordered online! And the shops wonder why they're dying.....

Re: Zoom H2
@RT2000. I'm impressed by my H2 but I now believe it's out of production. If you don't mind the dreadful 1970s LCD display then it's a wonderful audio recorder. It's mightily configurable, runs off two AAs and has very good in-built microphones (4 of them).
The H4 is a different beast. Far bigger and heavier but with a sensible display screen and a built-in speaker which is incredibly useful. You'll need good ears to tell the difference in audio quality, but the fact that you can plug proper XLR mics in the the H4 is a big plus.
