Any suggestions for a DVD authoring software that supports AC3 audio?

I currently use Ulead's DVD MovieFactory to create DVDs of home video tapes. It supports VBR encoding which is a plus however it doesn't support AC3 audio, only MPEG Layer 2.

Can anyone suggest a DVD authoring software that does support AC3? I want to make use of the smaller audio file size using this format so I can devote more space on the disc for video.

How about DVDitPE or Reel DVD both from Sonic. Not cheap but work well.

I assume Apple software (i.e. having a Mac available) is out of the question?

If you are making PAL DVD, then I'd stick with MPEG Layer 2 anyway - I don't think there's much difference quality wise at similar bitrates, and (as far as I know) there's no such thing as low cost AC3 encoding software at present.

If you are in NTSC land, then you have my sympathy since you are stuck betweeen a rock and a hard place in terms of possible DVD audio formats (space hungry PCM or expensive-to-encode AC3).
