Canon XL-1 or Sony DCR VX9000

Can anyone help me out here? I'm looking to buying a video digital camera.Now, which one to get? Canon XL-1 or Sony VX9000? Thanks.

They've both got their own distinct advantages. I was in exactly the same boat as you a coupld of months ago.

I opted for the XL1 for three reasons: 1) the lens, 2) the low light capability of the camera was just SO much better than other camcorders, 3) the image stabiliser on the Canon is superb. Oh, and the look of the camera also played a part - it looks more modern than the standard 'professional' big camcorder look of the Sony (and dare I say boring?)

I don't like the 'electronic' focus ring on the XL1 but it's made up for by apature and shutter priority modes, and a fully manual mode that's intuative to use.

I'll probably get flamed for this reply, but that's what I and I alone thought - hey but that's what you wanted opinions right? You need to make your own mind up.
