Has anyone come across this:
xplatinum . They claim to be able to record a DVD on CD-R...closer inspection indicates it's probably clever marketing of VCD.

Hi,
It's the same old spam that's been filling up everyone's inboxes for months. Avoid.

Correct me if I`m wrong (I`m sure someone will) but I thought you could put about 17-18 min of DVD on a CD!
I do know that it is possible to put 15 min + of video onto a CD that will autoplay at full screen in any PC with a spec of 133mhz and above because I do it!

Hi Barry,
You can create a "cDVD" or "mini DVD" on a CD, which is essentially the DVD files but on a CD. You are right in saying that you get about 15 minutes of video this way, but not all DVD players will play these disks.
What is being advertised above is a way of copying any DVD to CD. This simply isn't possible, as a Video CD can only get about an hour of video on a single CD. Not to mention the loss of quality and legal issues...
Best regards,

They are talking about DivX, MPEG4 etc.
You can get about 2 hours of DivX/MPEG4 onto a CD, but it won't play in any set-top DVD Player.
Old crap I'm afraid, all it is, is a collection of freeware programs you can already find on the net.
