Chaps, our Epson RX640 is now advising us "Parts inside your printer are near the end of their service life. See your printer documentation". Can this be adjusted/overridden as this printer is still working well, has given us good service & I don't want it to just "stop"??
Thanks
This usually refers to the waste ink pad - ever wondered where the ink goes every time you clean the print heads?
Epson consider it a fire risk if the pads get too saturated with waste ink. I've had a lot of success with R300's, R200's etc by using reset software, cleaning the ink pads and then fitting a waste ink 'catcher' at the rear of the printer but not tried it with any other printers.
There is some reset software HERE, I suggest you do some more research to make sure it can be done the same as with the older Epsons and then use at your own risk - TBH you have nothing to lose, the printer will just lock up at some stage and refuse to print (it used to be 30,000 pages but might be different for your printer). When it locks up it's a question of sending it to Epson (never actually known anyone do that) or junk it.
If you do reset it, I'd strongly suggest you fit the waste ink mod (if it's possible on your model).
This is the original and best Epson tool:
I recently did a reset on an Epson R300, just by holding in three buttons simultaneously without any reset software so it may be possible with other epsons too
When Epson lock the printer the lights flash alternatively very fast, not like the normal error flashing, if it gets to that point, the SSC software won't work and the 3 button reset won't work either.

Are you absolutely sure? I really thought I'd been there with an R220 and rescued it with the SSC Service Utility.

From 2007 and I'm still getting requests for the software I used, from all over the web from users doing a Google search and who have tried SSC and can't do a reset.
Dave, thanks for the info. Looks like I have a little job to do!!
