Hi
I have a Dimage 5 and i am having difficulty loading to the computer, locks up just as I get to the pictures or before. have managed to view 2 or 3 but that's all beore freezing. Disabled everything running in the background except explorer and systray. Removed my scanner. Mostly comes up with msgsrv32 not responding. Computer is 1100mghtz, 256 ram, 20 and 40 gig hard drives respectively. Any ideas before I go crazy please. I installed and re-installed over and over the driver and program for the camera. Son has no problem using same camera and leads to load them.

I'm assuming you mean your son has no problem on a different system?
What operating system(s) are on your machine and your son's?
Have you checked for any updated drivers for your O/S?

USB drivers, USB support in system BIOS, conflict with other USB device?

Ray,
You've come to the right place, but you will need to give us some more information on your PC system, especially things like what operating system you are using.
The good news is, looks like your camera / cable are OK if they work to your sons PC.
Please give us full details of what software you are using.
Paul

Hi Keith Trevor and Fisherman.
Thanks for the response. My o/p system is Windows 98SE, my son's is ME and I am using Minolta's Image Viewing Utility software. I have tried the my son's software which is Adobe Photoshop. Can this be a shortage of memory at all. I have 256 ram on my system but as I say i have disabled all items except Explore and Systray from my start up. Hope you can help.

Hi Ray,
Definately not RAM shortage. As I said earlier, the most likely cause is a problem with the USB configuration on your system. What Motherboard are you using and what BIOS revision? are you using built in USB or on a PCI card? Do you have any other USB devices attached and what are they?

Hi Trevor
I'm using a ASUS A7V133 200/266MHz FSB AGP Pro/4X Socket A Motherboard. I have two USB ports on the back of the case, one used for the printer and the other for this perishin' camera. Don't know what you mean by Bios revision. Hope this helps. I most appreciate your concern and help.
Ray.
Ray,
The A7V133 is based on the VIA KT133A chipset which is notorious for some incompatabilities. However, USB problems can usually be sorted. Go to:
http://www.via.com.tw
and download the latest 4in1 drivers for the VIA chipset. They are a self extracting executable file. All you do is follow the instructions. They enable Windows to talk to the VIA hardware properly. Any part which is not required by your system will not install so there is no need to worry on that score.
The ASUS website isn't working that well tonight, however I believe that the latest BIOS version for your motherboard is 1009. You might need to update to the latest BIOS version to cure your problem, I remember having to change the BIOS on an FIC AZ11 which is also based on the KT133A chipset to cure USB problems in the past.
Further information regarding how to update your BIOS can be found at:

Hi Trevor
Sorry for the delay. I have downloaded the Asus 4 in 1 drivers as suggested, the only difference as I can see is a slightly longer wait for M/ Explorer to load, about 10 seconds. I can only get the first icon of the Minolta imaging utility. You suggest going into the Bios and doing things. I’ve had a look the site suggested on Bios management and I don’t feel I can mess around with that on my limited experience, maybe with detailed step by step stuff. I couldn’t see anything relating to version 1009. I have put my complete Computer analysis here for you in the hope it may prove useful to you in your much appreciated help to me. The Ulead video program has only just been loaded on. The photo problems existed before this.
Thanks
Ray
