I've been interested in installing more memory in my old Pentium motherboard. It incorrectly recognises the memory I've got spare, so I thought I'd see if I could get a later bios that might recognise it. I tried a couple of things, but to no avail.
I then asked a question on this UBB, please follow the link for their reaction, and my (admittedly slightly rude) flame. (The email to which 'th' refers to a question I emailed to him yesterday. The response to which I didn't read until after his question)

It really makes me apprieciate the level of help and community that this CV message board generates. Well done everyone! You all deserve a celebratory cup of tea/coffee*.

Chris, we try to help, that's all. The range of subjects discussed here is immense, and there's no single expert across the board. We're all clueless at some things, not least me. I'm just relieved to see that we're better at leading the questioner through to the answer than in lobbing insults around.
I agree entirely, Alan! (You don't think I was too harsh in my flame comments, do you? I was rather annoyed. Mind you, all said and done, it was quite fun composing that! alt.flame here I come!!!!)
ooooooooh bet you felt good after that one!! A very satisfying flame - the sort that you really wish you could remember and be able to use off the top of your head in general conversation. (albeit perhaps slightly heated conversation).
PS
Too right! Though these days, it's an unfortunate sad fact that I am only at my most sarcastically eloquent in the medium of electronic communication. In person, I merely grunt, drool, and drag my fingers through the dirt. More bananas, anyone?
Chris, I reckon the tone was fine. I've never actually flamed anyone, but it must be fun doing it when the need arises. I've only been flamed once (on this board) and that was for having the cheek to say that I'd already explained something several times, so here we go again. I was truly amazed to get flamed for that, and the flamer (who wasn't the questioner) disappeared shortly after. No idea why

Well done Chris
They had it coming and boy did they get it!
I've often found that "computer experts" seem to treat those who aren't as knowledgeable as themselves with emotions ranging from sneering contempt to downright hostility.
Before I get flamed I would like to add that this generalisation does not apply to anyone on this list as they are obviously people of good taste as well as having computer skills
Chris,
Just read it. Glad to see that the standard of behaviour on our forum is a damn site beter than the one you have been on.
If you need help in future you know where to come.
Cheers
WB
Cheers guys!
If you check again, one of them has come down off his high horse, so I've posted a more reasonable missive.
