Panasonic NV-DS15EG - ?Best way to edit a miniDV?

I am an owner of a Panasonic NV-DS15EG
(which I like a lot :rolleyes: )

My desire would be, if possible,
to have my camcorder connected and recording,
in real time, on my PC's hard disk,
in "miniDV quality" (not in MPEG-2 if possible).

Then having everything on my disc, I would be able to edit and transfer them
a) to a miniDV tape and/or
b) to a DVD

1) Is that possible
2) What soft/hard-ware do I need to buy?
3) Is it possible to handle the start/stop
of the camera through my PC?
