Pinnacle TV capture

Can anybody tell me if this TV capture board is capable of recording (real time) to the SVCD format, and if so what is the quality like.

Or might I be wiser to stick to software encoding.

Hi,

The Pinnacle TV board is just like other Booktree BT848, BT878 based cards. (WinTV,AverTV, etc) There is no MPEG encoding done on the card in hardware, it is software based, you will need a fast PC to get anything reasonable.

The ATI Radeon 8500 DV card does hardware MPEG2 capture and playback at rates up to 15Mb/sec.
