I've wiped my HD and reinstalled FCS and Logic Studio but am still getting crashes in Motion and FCP. There seems to be a recurring problem with a ProGraphics plugin. I aware its part of FCP(S) but what is it and why after a clean install am I still getting problems and crashes?

Problems in Motion happen occasionally when I try to add a new group it doesn't let me either by key command or file menu it just locks up in that department but still is usable on the whole. When it has to do some heavy graphics work thats when the crashes mostly occur leading me to believe that there is a problem linking the graphics card and the CPU's and RAM?

Graphics card is the one that came with the MacPro Radeon HD 2600 and I have 8gig of ram so its a pretty capable machine.

I just find it strange (in my case0 that Apple hardware and software are not working in synergy like they should be.

Have you let the latest pro apps update download, if you are using snow leopard it will crash if you havent got the latest version.

I had this too recently but all is Ok now with everything on the latest versions.

Yes when I reinstalled everything I made sure everything was up to the latest software versions. Just frustrating after the steps I took to try and get a system working.

Hmm I just went to use my own mac pro edit system and FCP crashes instantly, it was working OK last week but now not at all. I am also up to date with all versions of software so I will have to dig deeper.

I am repairing permissions as a start and my macbook pro is OK but it does not have all the latest software versions.

My original problems started when I created graphics in Motion and they wouldn't transfer all the related content over into FCP when I imported them as .motn files. Soon after this Motion started crashing alot when the intensity increased on the system leading me to believe that something isn't right in the architecture when its trying to process lots on information. Thats when the Pro Graphics plugin warning boxes started to appear. Last night I was using FCP for a good few hours and not one single crash but I wasn't taxing the system just basic editing.

A re-install of FCP 7 sorted my problems.
