A reader has written in, hoping to buy his first PC, which he'll be using for video editing, of course.
Anyone able to recommend a video-knowledgeable PC builder in Sunderland?
He's got a JVC GRDD95 camcorder and wants to put his videos onto DVD.
He's thinking about a PC based around a Gigabyte Titan P875 motherboard with a P4 2.4 CPU.
TIA

Hi Bob
I live in this area and I cant think of a single outlet specifically dealing in computer editing hardware (Maybe i'll open a shop).
What I did was to scour this forum for the best set ups and built my own, this place is second to none for back up and it has helped me on numerous occaisions.
I have the following:-
Gigabyte DX7+ MO/BO with raid.
AMD Athlon 1800+
384 mb DDR ram
Belkin firewire card
Premiere 6.0 (6.02 UPDATE)
Pioneer 1.06 DVD re-writer ( What a machine)
Windows XP Professional, Service pack 1
20 gb boot drive, 40 gb 7200rpm for video on the raid controller.
I have used this set up over a period of a year and not had a single problem, I mainly put it down to this forum.
If this guy who has contacted you feels comfortable enough to self build then I say go for it, he will also save a small fortune as computer parts at the moment are quite cheap.
Regards
Steve
