Hi folks, I want to put about 80 wedding pics onto a CD as a slide show with background music. I have win.xp sp2 on 3gh medion 8800 computer. Have pinnacle 9.4 vid. editing prog: Nero 6, Olympus master prog. (for my c 70 still camera) google Piicia photo prog.(but it will not do sound!) I have downloaded Ulead CD photomaker 4 but reading forums this prog. has mega. probs burning discs. Any ideas for an easy to learn prog. ( I am not PC literate!) to do this job, thanks Ted.

Have you tried Microsofts Photo Story 3, its free and should do what you want although I've never gone as far as burning a disc.

Hi Nick, thanks for lead, tried demo and it seems to be exactly what I need. I have downloaded it and will give it a try, not sure about disc burning, hope it is simple! Ted.

Thought it was too good to be true, no matter how I try cannot move photo file from my pics to photo3. every time I highlight folder i want and type in name win. says invalid file path try again. same message for any folder I try. Help instructions no use I do exactly as it says, just gray OK box which cannot be ticked, did say it needs to be simple! Ted

hi Nick, update...I have spent the last 8 hours setting out editing captioning and sounding my masterpiece. The programme is nice and easy and I have saved the file which has a wmv or wp3 file ending. But If i try nero it is not happy and wants to send microsoft an error and shuts off. If I try movie player (it has option to burn a cd.).. I now have some nice musical coasters! no pics! shoud have noticed file was 10.5mb finished photo/audio file is 125 mb. any ideas how to make a dozen picture/video CDs would be welcome, thanks

If you have XP why not use Windows Movie Maker. You have all you need on your PC.

I should change my name to millipeid as I have shot myself in the foot so many time useing computer programmes !!! I have a horrible feeling that saturdays work is down the tubes as Win. movie maker won't/can't speak to microsoft Photo story 3 (are they not from the same producer?) says wp3 is not a supported file, cannot be imported. Please say I do not need to redo all my edits etc!
As I am completly thick with cryptic pc messages I am as usual stuck. before skulking off to the pub to drown my sorrows and stiking a few more pins in my bill gates doll any ideas ??? ted

muvee producer

Have you tried or seen Muvee Producer? It is the easiest and simplest programme I've seen to make DVDs of stills or video. Lots of people I know who couldn't use Premiere or Photoshop are making cracking DVDs of digital stills. Have a look at muvee.com where you can download a 15 day free trial. And if you decide to buy it's not expensive.

Ted, try ProShow Gold

http://www.photodex.com/

This program will do it all for you in about 5 minutes,
but you can also tweak it with titles, zooms, pans, dissolves, talk-overs,
videos, different music tracks and burn to any format.
It is available as a free trial or to purchase for about £40

I find it one of the best programs I have

Thanks guys i will have a look at the progs you recommend. My problem is I probably have too many progs. now. My medion 8800 came with a lot Nero 6; power Director etc.and I bought Pinnacle studio 9.4 but it jammed up to much and was too secritive about where all the stuff went, LOTS of files types! My daughter bought me elements 2 but I missed the batch clip capture and story board. I really struggle learning any software and as I have finally achieved a finished job in photo story I will probably make my contribution to the bill gates dollar mountain by buying the sonic DVD plug in just to get the DVD burnt and out before Christmas, one day I will get the hand of this PC business! I'm sorry I recommended Photo Story, it seemed ideal, I didn't realise, although it saves you can save to view on your PC, it doesn't seem to support burning to a disc. I'm amazed that in the save for your PC it has a setting for PAL or NTSC format, ideal for playing in standalone DVD players! I've had to be away from my PC so I haven't had a chance to play with it further. I will have another look this weekend.
Sorry once again, I thought it seemed perfect for your project and had worked for my son, but we hadn't burnt a disc. I'll have to research my advice better.

Nick.

Hi Nick, no problem, it was easy to use (Nero, elements, Google Picea, etc are so complicated with too many options for rheir own good!) and did the job. But it is a nice example of microsoft cunning,
; give away the front end of the programme, let the user build their project in a 'locked file code' then they are obliged to buy the back end to view/use the finished job. Today i paid my £15.00 for Sonic DVD and the project was burnt successfully. I now have another prog. to decorate my desktop !Ted
