Been on this 3 days now and still can not get the movie on the cam to a dvd.
I have managed to download from the tape to the PC but now have a question:
The folder with the 1 hour of video is 11 gigs !!!!! how the hell is that going to fit on a 4.7 gig DVD?
Also the burn to DVD button on the camcorder screen is greyed out, what next.
Finally can someone please help me find some simple software to copy from DV to DVD, I dont want to get clever 'making movies' I just want to copy to DVD so they play on a TV.
Sorry about all the 'wants' but I am near to giving up.
Regards
PS. is the Tom Hardwick member the same one that is connected to Willy Hardwick of BC fame?
Roger, all DVD-Video discs have compressed video on them in MPEG-2 format. Once compressed in this way, your 11G/one hour DV file will easily fit on a DVD.
You need some basic DVD-Authoring software to do this, which will not only do the MPEG-2 compression but also create the correct file structure on the DVD: this is also necessary for the disc to play on a standard set-top DVD player.
On a Mac, look for "iMovie"+"iDVD" - on a Windows PC, look for.... (help! somebody else???) :D
Rogerjn, there are numerous PC editing software titles, Windows Moviemaker, Pinnacle Studio, Roxio Easy Media Creator & others. It all depends on your budget & enthusiasm to produce DVD's of your filming.:D
