Go into the audio HQ and make sure the inputs for your audio are enabled - If you're looping from a capture card to the input on the soundcard make sure the lead is plugged in too! I've saved a file on the speaker setup page that recalls mixer settings as the SB Live sometimes has a mind of it's own when you reboot!

Hi. Go to the windows start menu at the bottom of your screen. Go to programs, then CREATIVE, then SOUNDBLASTER LIVE, then AUDIO HQ. On my desktop ( and possibly yours) there is a small icon on on the menu bar at the bottom of the screen which looks a speaker. Double-clicking should take you straight to the mixer settings. If there is another icon which looks like a speaker with a green blob! behind it, this is a direct shortcut to the sb live audio hq. Then checkl to make sure the inputs are enabled. for your audio

thanks
I had a look at Audio HQ and it all seems fine still no luck with audio.Im going into a Firewire port using Adobe Premiere5.1.
Maybe it is,nt getting into Premiere in the first place because the hiss goes up when the vid plays back.
Which input should I select in :AUDIO CAPTURE:?Regards

In Premiere, can you expand the audio track and make sure there's a waveform there. You have to zoom in close to a few frames -

And... Your capture card, does it have an audio out that you have to route back into the soundcard?

What capture card are you using and what leads do you use to connect the camera to the PC.

I'm not familiar with that card as a capture card but I would check if you needed the phono left and right coming out of your camcorder as well.

I experienced a similar problem with my old Raptor and was told even though firewire carries sound, I had to have the phono connections made as well.

Steve,

You need help I suppose you already knew that!

You need to explain a bit more about your system. You say input is via Firewire (Is this a port on the computer, an OHCI card or something like a Canopus Rapture). You also say you capture through your graphics card. This seems very strange if your input is via firewire.

You say you are using Premiere 5.1. If that is the case and you are using an OHCI capture port, you may have problems.

Please try to explain the steps you take to plug in your camcorder and then to actually do the capture. Then maybe the wise ones here can help.

Good luck

thanks to all who have replied
heres the info on the firewire card
Firewire PCI 3port card+cable
That is all the info I have on it.We were advised to go for a cheap one.
To capture video I go to ;capture video;then I set my sony PC110 to play.
This results in a big window with a record button opening up,showing the cam/vcr plaback.I then press record and the screen freezes and it records video with no audio.
I hope this is helpfull

Is that right?

I had a similar problem recently and eventually traced it to the volume control in RealPlayer being turned down - somehow this was affecting the overall volume control for every program. As soon as i turned it back up everything started to work properly.,

S, I'd go through every multimedia program you have (media player / realplayer / quicktime / any games you have etc) and chek the volume level in each one

can you tell us if you can see a waveform on the audio track in premier.

to check set the timeline to 1 second and if you have waveform you have audio, you just aren't hearing it. If no waveform then connections or hardware is at fault.
