Hi,

This went t*** up last year and as it was pretty hectic at the time I replaced immediately with a lovely new Mac Pro. I think we had some power surge type thing and it wouldn't switch on. I did a few searches and it seems it's likely either the power supply or logic board gone, and sounded a tad pricey to mend. Has this happened to anyone else? What to do other than a really expensive huge door stop?

thanks for your input.

Gary.

Well, if you've tried resetting the SMU (see here) or PRAM (see here) and any other obvious "won't start up" fault-finding (like searching Apple's G5 forums, I suggest you either sell it whole for spares/repair on eBay, or if you are sure which part is faulty, ditch that, and break the rest of it up into "working" parts and sell it that way. You might make quite a bit of money that way.

Depends how much time/inclination you have, really.
