PLEASE NOTE: This thread often fills 8 to 10 pages, by then it can take a couple of minutes to post a reply, this is not a fault in the system.
Here we are at the eleventh consecutive thread of:
'So how about an 'Over 50's' page?'
This is the place to come if you just want to be friendly and let everyone know what you’ve been doing to pass the time of day. You don’t have to be ‘over 50’ to visit, it’s open to everyone from our youngest to oldest member. (Even those who have just turned 40
)
If you didn’t get to see the last few posts to the previous ‘Over 50’s’ page you may want to click here to catch up on what you’ve missed.
So without further ado, let’s commence with:
’So how about an ‘Over 50’s’ page? – Part 11’
Cheers,
Chirpy.
I see, Chirpy...
Just so the "Thread starter" column says Chirpy - Chirpy - Chirpy - Chirpy - Chirpy - Chirpy – Chirpy
Cheep Cheep
John
Actually John, I've been so busy 'cross threading' everything that I didn't have time to notice! I tried to close Part 10 before you and Stuart posted your two messages and had to go back and redo them. However I got there in the end and everything should flow along much more smoothly now...I'll have to close and reopen 'Tennis, elbow' before long!
Cheers,
Chirpy.
hello all
hope your all well.its nice posting on the ouat thread now without it takeing ages to load will have a look at the ouat the musical.
simon
You're right Simon, that's why I've restarted all of them. Soon be time to restart 'Tennis, elbow' as well.
Chirpy.
Night all
Night John,
Night Stuart (& Sally)
Evening ALL ,Stuart, did you get my mail??.
Hows the head or is the birthday bash this wk end. Look in in a bit, still sorting this old pc. Pete.
G'night everybody,
I've got an early morning start which I'm looking forward to. I'll be filming the concrete pour which - from past experience - is quite exciting.

Hopefully it won't rain and they'll be able to power-float the surface with one of these...
Anyway, I'll let you know how it went tomorrow evening.
BFN,
Chirpy.
Dear Peter,
No sorry have not recieved any mail ?
Kind regards
Stuart.
Dear Chirpy,
Did you get my e-mail this morning ?
I have tried to e-mail another forum member for a couple of days, as they offered to help me with something, and have just managed to get back to them..
Obviously they may be away at the moment.. or just unable to reply..
But as i have been sent an e-mail by peter and have not recieved it, just want to make sure its not my e-mail up the spout "
Kind regards all.
Hi Stuart
One option to consider is if useing Outlook, go to Tools, select Options, then reciepts, where you have the option of requesting a reciept for any e-mails you send.
Regards
Charles
Dear Charles thank you for the tip
Kind regards
Hi Stuart,
Yes I did get your e-mail but as I've only just got home from Dovercourt (powerfloating by floodlight!) I wasn't able to answer it this morning, sorry.
I'm just going to have a brief look around the forum and then have a good long soak in the bath. I've just done a twelve hour stint fiming and my knees and ankles are aching.
I was pleased with what I was able to film though and I won't need to go back until Monday.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Evening all, thats a long day for you isnt it Chirpy? (to be out I mean). Bet Mrs Chirpy would like one of those in the picture for a Rice Pud stirer...
Glad you got the mail Stuart, my first e mail "Mooblie" (triple), no wonder computers foul things up they do it in triplicate without being told to!!!!.
Must put this old pc back in its case, ready to go back in the morning, clear up my little office area, load some video clips, and pack the stuff for the kart in the afternoon.
Chirpy, there is a better way of doing a ton on a moped, one rope tied to handle bars. big magnet on the other end, and stick it on the back of a passing porker, just make sure its stoping where you want to stop, till later.regards to all Pete.
Yes Pete, it was a long day, but then again, a lot happened.
I don't think one of those power-floats would be much good in the kitchen - they're big, messy and run on petrol!
The road from Colchester to Dovercourt isn't too friendly for mopeds - it's along the main route to Harwich so I get passed by lots of heavy traffic en route to Holland.
Anyway, I'm having an early night so, goodnight all.
Chirpy.
Night Chirpy, and nyone ellse about, I still have stacks to do and need some kip.Pete
Actually, I'm still awake! Tracey wanted to listen to some music so I'm just running through my MP3 files, but I will be going to bed soon.
Chirpy.
Evening (morning) all,
Went to see the Warhol exhibition at Tate Modern this afternoon - excellent
It ends 1st April.
John
John, is 1st. April significant?
Went to the tate in Liverpool last week too John.
Seen the Philip Guston display, which was quite fascinating, but a little disturbing, at the same time as being provoking. I liked it.
there is also another exhibition on, called telling tales. I recommend any one in the vicinty of Scousr land go see, as it is an excellent display, possibly one of the best I've seen at the Livepool Tate.
Lots more to say folks, but will update you in the near future.
Luv you all (yep I've been out on the proverbial urination)
Tim
Suprising!
No hangover??
See you guys later.
Tim

Hi all,
I see Man.U are going to do things the hard way again!
Tim, I sent an email to your timc@une.ltd.uk address last week re. the new iMac, did you get it?
Chirpy.

No you won't - I'll be in Venice
John
John, bring us a Cornetto (just one).
Goodnight all,
Chirpy
It'll get stolen from the Gondola (if you remember the ad?)
Morning John,
I'm defraging at the moment, thought it'd only take a mo' but it looks like I've got half an hour/one hour to go.
I'm not filming today and I've reached the stage where I want to get rid of all the double-takes as I'm already on my sixth roll of film. I wish I could afford something to take to the site and edit as I go along.
See you later,
Chirpy.
Evening all,
Been to the Ideal Home Exhibition today.
Interesting - just got back.
Now we have to think about Venice.
John
Good morning all,
Welcome to a new week at work
John
Good afternoon John,
And all,
Just been doing my first "bit" of gardening, for over 17 months
My My how weeds and grass grows
At least my legs seem upto it, so the exercises must be doing some good.
Kindest regards all.
...and I've been shovelling and shifting sand at the site for the past few hours. There wasn't all that much to film today so I thought I'd do some manual work. I felt a bit self-conscious watching a couple of 60 year old women pushing wheel barrows about and two seventy year olds raking it onto the foundations of the car park whilst I was just standing around doing nothing. So I decided I ought to be helping too.
Anyway, now my back's stiffened up and I think I'll go and soak in the bath in case I'm not fit to do my window cleaning tomorrow.
BFN,
Chirpy.
This is awfully quiet tonight. So now John's gone to bed and there doesn't seem to be anyone else around, I think I'll have an early night too. (window cleaning in the morning)
G'night all,
Chirpy.
Morning all - what a beautiful day (at least it is here)
John
Good morning John,
Morning all
Weather not too bad in Kent, little cloudy but dry at least, hope it "turns" out as nice as yesterday, we had glorious weather then.
having a lazy day today, spent a lot of time in the garden again yesterday, and like Chirpy, am feeling the results, so am going to put my feet up and play a few games, apart from the exercises of course.
Kind regards all.
Hi Folks,
Thankfully the aches and pains dissolved in the night so I was able to get my work done this morning. I must admit though, I felt like leaving the last few until tomorrow.
I've just said "cheerio" to my dad who's gone to Malta for a month or so. When he gets back he's decided to go and live in a residential care home. The type where you can do your own cooking if you want to. He's 87 and up until about a year ago he could walk a lot faster than I could!
There's nothing for me to film today so I'm taking things easy. Tracey and Kirsty have gone up the road to get their hair done. I think I'll just run the animal clippers over my head, that should do for a couple of months!
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Evening all,
Had a total computer failure at work today - hard drive gone and nothing can be saved
Luckily most important stuff was saved in the system, but I have lost a few things
Anyway - they will re-build my computer while I am away.
Venice tomorrow
John
Dear John,
Sorry to hear about the computer
Have a Fantastic time in Venice
Kind regards
Stuart & Sally
Thanks Stuart and Sally,
Thank goodness it was the work computer and not my home one.
We are now in the middle of packing - we have to get up at 3AM
Happy Easter all.
John
And WELCOME TO PAGE 2
My dad should be half way to Malta by now.
John (and Olga), sleep well, enjoy your holiday and get back safely.
Best wishes,
Chirpy.
Thanks Chirpy,
Switch-off time now I think - see you in a week.
Have a good Easter.
John (& Ol'ga)
Methinks it's time to hit the sack. (not that it deserves it mind
)
G'night all,
Chirpy.
My my, isn't it quiet without John!
"Yes" he said, answering his own question as the 'Chatter' forum suddenly turned into a ghost town.
Hi everyone (or even anyone), wasn't it a beautiful evening yesterday? The sky was clear and the full moon shone brightly. Today has been lovely too, I've been filming at Dovercourt and we should be in for a really busy weekend as everyone's on holiday which means 'more hands to the pump'!
I put a new front wheel on my moped this morning as the other one was slightly buckled. I presume it must be slightly smaller because -according to my mileometer - the journey to Dovercourt was 0.15 miles longer than with the other wheel!
- Wheel one: 13.6 miles.
- Wheel two: 13.75 miles
Kirsty has gone to Luton for a week and Tracey's just taking things easy.
Seems like she's not the only one.
Bye for now,
Chirpy.
Hello,
I don't normally add anything to this page (i don't normally get the chance!) but if there's anyone about (which there doesn't seem to be), here's a reminder to alter all your clocks, watches, cookers, microwaves, video recorders, oh yes and hubby just mentioned the clock on your digital cameras as well. They all have to go forward one hour, unless you live in one of those countries that doesn't have to. In which case, please ignore this message.
Tracey
Good Call Mrs C.
....especially as it looks like the server hosting this board hasn't taken your advice!!!
Hi all,
Just brief one this..
Wishing everyone a very Happy Safe Easter.
Kindest regards
Stuart & Sally.
Thanks Stuart,
Quiet here over the weekend wasn't it! I was busy filming over at Dovercourt for five days in a row. I've got today and tomorrow off though and maybe Thursday too. I'll have to phone up to make sure that nothing important is happening. Then on Friday and Saturday - maybe Sunday too - they'll be blockpaving the driveway and car park.
BTW Suart, are you happy with the 'Starter' pack you got from 1 & 1, or do you wish you'd gone for the 'Home' package instead? I'm thinking about upgrading from my 'Web Forwarding' package but I'm not sure which one to take.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Dear Chirpy,
Its the Home Package that i have, it is the business package that i was loking to upgrade to.
But at the moment i am more than happy with the Home Package, it suits my needs and offers enough for what i currently use.
Kindest regards.
Thanks Stuart,
I'm still 'umming and arring' over which package to get, but I don't really need to get the 'Business' package so it's just between the 'Starter' and 'Home'. I could always try one for the '60 day money back guarantee' and then change to the other if I'm not happy with it.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Dear Chirpy,
Would suggest go with the Starter (which is cheaper), and upgrade at a later date if you feel you need to ?
Kindest regards
P.S. have put a couple of links in your Shredder question thread
The second is the home site if you click shredder from the menu, you will find loads of possibilities.. including your own one.
Best wishes.
Yes thanks Stuart, I've been looking at the Shredder pages but my first option is to visit the chap in town to see if he has a washing machine spare part that is compatible. I just hate the idea of having to throw away a good shredder just for the sake of one silly piece.
I think I will go for the 'Starter' package as it's a lot cheaper than the 'Home' package. It'll probably be more than adequate anyway for my needs.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Eveming all,
We're back - it's been quiet here hasn't it?
Venice was great - the sound was so different from anywhere else I've been.
And - out friend's house must have the best view in Venice - on the Canal de san Marco with a view that sees the entrance to the Grand Canal and the whole of the classic view of Venice and only 10-15 minutes stroll from the piazza san Marco - wonderful.
John
Hi John,
A very big welcome back, it's been extremely quiet without you. Although I've been busy filming at Dovercourt right through the holiday, I have been looking in each day. But as there was no one following up my posts I just had to let the days go by without posting anything.
Anyway, there's a good match about to start on ITV 1 so I'll have to reply to your (next) post later!
Cheers,
Chirpy.
I wish Bob would hurry up and get the time seen to on this bulletin board - according to my watch it's 12.48 a.m. and I'm going to bed.
G'night folks,
Chirpy.
G'day all,
It is quiet here isn't it?
John
Hello John,
Glad you are back safely,
hope you all had a wonderful break
kind regards
Thanks Stuart,
It was great (see above).
I wonder if Bob wants to keep the timings as GMT as everyone the world over can relate to it?
John
Maybe he's still having his 'extra hour' in the morning!
Ah well, night all - and this post makes all the "ones".
John
Ooh John, you are a one! [1111]
Evening all,
I see we're still running on 'old time', so I'd better wish all you 'ol' timers' a pleasant "good night"!
I've had a busy day filming and I need to be on site by 8 am. for the block paving. Weather forecast: Sunny but cool with a fresh, easterly wind. At least it's not gonna rain.
G'night folks,
Chirpy.
Goodnight Chirpy
I agree - it's too nice a day to be on the computer.
John
Nice!!! The only nice thing is that the sun shone all day and we got our blockpaving finished. However, the wind has been quite strong and the windchill factor meant I've had a zip-up jacket and a windproof coat on all day and I was still cold.
For someone who manages to clean windows in the winter wearing just a t-shirt and trousers some days, I'd say it was quite a bitter day here.
Apart from that - Hi everyone!
Now I think I'll watch football on the telly.
Chirpy.
Well, it was nice here in Oxford Chirpy and the wind was not too bad at all.
John
Morning all,
I think everyone's been enjoying Spring as no-one seems to be here.
It's nice, isn't it? - I missed it last year, I was in the bathroom.
John
I'm here John, no filming today but I'm in the process of putting the shredder back together.
I liked your comment about being in the bathroom and missing spring last year.
Chirpy.

John
Mud, mud, glorious mud!!!
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood,
So follow me, follow,
Down to the hollow,
And there let us wallow in glo-o-o-o-orious mud.
'I'm a Gnu
I'm a Gnu
The g-nicest work of g-nature in the zoo
I'm a Gnu
How do you do
You really ought to k-now w-ho's w-ho's
I'm a Gnu
Spelt G-N-U
I'm g-not a Camel or a Kangaroo
So let me introduce
I'm g-neither man or moose
Oh g-no g-no g-no I'm a Gnu'
January brings the snow
Makes your feet and fingers glow
February's Ice and sleet
Freeze the toes right off your feet
Welcome March with wintry wind
Would thou wern't not so inclined
April brings the sweet spring showers
On and on for hour and hours
Farmers fear unkindly May
Frost by night and hail by day
June just rains and never stops
Thirty days and spoils the crops
In July the sun is hot
Is it shining? No, it's not
August cold, and dank, and wet
Brings more rain than any yet
Bleak September's mist and mud
is enough to chill the blood
Then October adds a gale
Wind and slush and rain and hail
Dark November brings the fog
Should not do it to a dog
Freezing wet December then:
Bloody January again!
(January brings the snow
Makes your feet and fingers glow).

That's exactly where I got my lyrics from!
Aah - but this is my favorite
This song starts with, I think, very typical English Understatement.
The English, the English, the English are best
I wouldn't give tuppence for all of the rest.
The rottenest bits of these islands of ours
We've left in the hands of three unfriendly powers
Examine the Irishman, Welshman or Scot
You'll find he's a stinker, as likely as not.
The Scotsman is mean, as we're all well aware
And bony and blotchy and covered with hair
He eats salty porridge, he works all the day
And he hasn't got bishops to show him the way!
The English, the English, the English are best
I wouldn't give tuppence for all of the rest.
The Irishman now out contempt is beneath
He sleeps in his boots and he lies through his teeth
He blows up policemen, or so I have heard
And blames it on Cromwell and William the Third!
The English are noble, the English are nice,
And worth any other at double the price
The Welshman's dishonest and cheats when he can
And little and dark, more like monkey than man
He works underground with a lamp in his hat
And he sings far too loud, far too often, and flat!
And crossing the Channel, one cannot say much
Of French and the Spanish, the Danish or Dutch
The Germans are German, the Russians are red,
And the Greeks and Italians eat garlic in bed!
The English are moral, the English are good
And clever and modest and misunderstood.
And all the world over, each nation's the same
They've simply no notion of playing the game
They argue with umpires, they cheer when they've won
And they practice beforehand which ruins the fun!
The English, the English, the English are best
So up with the English and down with the rest.
It's not that they're wicked or natuarally bad
It's knowing they're foreign that makes them so mad!
For the English are all that a nation should be,
And the flower of the English are Donald (Michael)
Donald (Michael) and Me!
John
Chirpy and John, you have way too much time on your hands
SIFI
Not necessarily SIFI, but this forum can get addictive
Night all.
John
Can I just say this is the first time I've been on Page Three - of this topic anyway!
Goodnight John.
Hi SIFI, as you've probably noticed I haven't posted as much lately, I've been far too busy filming.
Right now I'm in the middle of deciding whether or not to buy a new domain name????
Chirpy.
Morning all,
No posts here yesterday, everyone watching the funeral - the end of an era
The queen mum actually lived in 3 centuries. Born in the last year of the 19th Century and died in the 2nd year of the 21st Century - now that is an acheivement.
John
I'll be 50 tomorrow.
Is anything likely to fall off? (best be prepared I say)
Bernie
Dear Bernie,
In case i am not around, (on the web) Congratulations and happy birthday for tomorrow.
I thought the same thing when i turned 40 a couple of weeks ago, but everything appears to still be where it should be
Hi John,
Kindest regards all.
Bernie,
Things only get better.
Have a great birthday.
John
Hi all, just a short visit,Have a good birthday mate, Im 50+ and nowts droped off yet.(that I am aware of).

stuart & sally
Thanks a bundle you friendly people.
Things are still working although I have not tested EVERYTHING yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW SAGA over 50 motor insurance is no cheaper
Having a good day
Regards
Bernie
Happy Birthday old man
John
Best wishes Bernie.
I'm pretty sure that by this time on your 50th birthday you should now have tested everything
SIFI
It's not July yet
It's not August either
I'LL have to wait till Christmas!!!!!.

Shush you could hear a pin drop here to night.
Good morning Peter, and all.
Nobody missed me then.
Wow, no posts from Chirpy for 5 days
that must be some kind of record and in al that time only 15 other posts in this thread.
It just goes to show that the pace just isn't the same without you Chirpy.
SIFI
G'day all,
We did miss you Chirpy, it's just that we thoght you were busy filming.
John
Hi SIFI and John,
Yes, I have been filming and things have been moving along quite quickly since I last wrote. All the supplies have been arriving over the last two days and the scaffolding is all erected. All that needs doing is the floor tiles in the toilets, which are layed before the hall is built! They'll be done tomorrow and then covered with hardboard to prevent any damage before we build the hall next weekend. So that means I'll be laying fairly low until Wednesday. Then you probably won't hear from me again until next Sunday or Monday evening.
I got a good bargain at Jessops earlier this week. I was looking for a wide-angle lens for filming inside the smaller rooms next week and the only one they had was a Raynox 0.3X Semi Fisheye 'Clip-on' lens. However it was in a 0.5X Super Wide-angle box. So they knocked the price down from £23 to £15 because they couldn't find the original packaging. I didn't need the box anyway!
Well, time to watch the football!
Bye for now,
Chirpy.
Wasn't that a terrific triple somersault by Lomana Tresor Lua Lua (ex Colchester) after scoring his first goal for Newcastle - even if it was offside!
Anyway, goodnight all,
Chirpy.
Hi all.
I have just come across this board.
Is it a competition to see who can make the most postings ?
Nope, It's what it says at the top. It's the chatter forum, where people take a break for the mainstream video boards here.
BTW, Welcome to the forum
Morning all,
Lovely day - I'm going out.
John
Hi All, lucky you John, weve got a dull day and drizle, so have to do some jobs in doors. The ones I have been puting of for ages. Pete.
Hi folks,
Welcome to the forum wdlowe and let's hope we'll see more of you.
I've just got home from Dovercourt and I'm now going to watch the Grand Prix which Tracey recorded while I was out. I just hope Schuey is in the lead with 11 laps to go and that it stays that way - Kirsty accidentally switched off the recorder!!!
Bye for now,
Chirpy.
Did you enjoy the race Chirpy?
I've got to say that F1 bores the pants off me nowadays. I used to really enjoy the Grand prix but it has become such a one horse race it really doesn't hold my interest anymore. Incidentally I haven't seen the result but let me guess, a Schumacher win? The title is over already in my opinion.
I'm gonna watch the Chelsea game in a bit and I'll be rooting for Fulham.
SIFI
PS John, it has been thoroughly miserable in the NW today.
Hi SIFI,
Yes I enjoyed the GP, it was a one-two for Ferrari which I was pleased about as I felt sorry for poor Rubens who hadn't finished a race this season until today.
Your team's trailing at the moment (Chelsea 1 - Fulham 0) but there's still 45 minutes to go so anything could happen. I just hope whoever wins goes on to knock Arsenal out in the final. Same too with the League, if Man U don't win it, I hope Liverpool do!
Right, back to the telly again (second half).
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Hi SIFI and Chirpy,
Well it was a nice day in Oxford when it started and I went to see my mother in London, and it was a nice day there too.
Bad result at the Grand Prix though - I really have no time for Michael Schumacher (I suppose ever since he won by running Damon Hill off the track), but his brother Ralf I do support.
John
Goodnight Chirpy
Goodnight John.
Morning all (well, afternoon actually),
Interesting news this morning about ITV-Digital's troubles...
John
Indeed. A solution will have to be found if HMG intends to sell of the analogue spectrum use of Bands IV and V. If ITV Digital closes and no-one runs the service, then HMG can't sell of the channels simply because the National Carrier status of BBC is required legally as the means of communication in times of national trouble.
Imagine the situation if we were at war with someone whom Murdoch liked. How would HMG get its message out to the public?
I must admit I am very worried about the sell-off.
At the moment radiomicrophones share spectrum with analogue TV, slotting in the gaps.
If everything was sold off there would be no room for radiomicrophones - and if no radiomicrophones, no television programmes.
So I can see the point where we have a nice lot of digital television channels and no programmes to show on them.
A lot of TV programmes can use as many as 20 or more radiomicrophone channels - so this spectrum is essential.
I only hope the government comes to it's senses.
John
Don't worry John, it'll be all right on the night. Common sense will avail. And don't forget that radio-mics can sit on top of digital tv because of the way the modulation works, the spread-spectrum nature of COFDM manages to ignore interference this way.
I guess it's time I got some shut-eye so I can get some work done tomorrow and then get over to Dovercourt. I didn't go today as it's the calm before the storm. Everything goes mad on Thursday.
I've spent all afternoon putting a new website together. I haven't managed to work out how to include pictures yet, and annoyingly my email links just take you back to the intro page.
Any ideas on how to solve the problem guys? I didn't use HTML, just the free Website Creator that comes with http://oneandone.co.uk/
My site is at: http://www.quickbuild.info/
Goodnight folks,
Chirpy.
Hi Guys,
Problem solved (see above post) now I can get back to filming.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Morning all,
Don't forget your hard-hat Chirpy
John
Thanks John, it's already at the site together with my 'toe-tectors'!
BFN,
Chirpy
Quiet here this evening - ah well - tomorrow is another day.
John
Yup, let's hope it doesn't rain 'cos I'll get my camera wet.
Goodnight all,
Chirpy.
P.S. Welcome to page four.
Well, it rained this evening
John
...but it's been sunny all day here.
Well, got to be on site before 6.am. or I don't get an egg & bacon bap!
Goodnight all, you won't hear from me much - if at all - until Sunday evening or Monday. But you can check up on what I'm doing each day here.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
(Me taking a well deserved rest!)
Nice day then, Chirpy?
John
Not too bad weatherwise John. But it chucked it down just before we got the final roof truss on and we all got soaked!
I left the site at 9.pm and the roof is now ready for tiling. The walls are all plastered and the loo's were being tiled.
Right now I need a good, long, soak in 'Radox' 'cos I ache and I'm due back at 7.30 am.
Goodnight folks,
Chirpy.
Evening all,
Another quiet day (here at least).
John
Evening John,
Evening all.
Just having a final few minutes on the boards before bed.
Hope everyone had a good day.
Regards all.
Evening folks,
Just got home from Dovercourt. The suspended ceiling tiles were just going in when I left. Now I'm going to update my site:
www.quickbuild.info
G'night all,
Chirpy.
Evening all. Hi chirpy, where is the moped in the picy then.???.
Pete,
If you look closely at the picture with me sitting with my feet up, you'll see my dark blue moped with a white topbox parked just behind my right shoulder.
Now I need to get my site updated, sorry Pete.
Chirpy.
Dear Chirpy,
Thought this was it...

G'day all,
Gardening today and off to Swansea tomorrow.
Ol'ga opened some virus infected attachments on her computer and it is too bad to fix - so it will have to be a re-install
As luck would have it, I had backups of a lot of her stuff on my computer - but she will lose the last couple of months of e-mail
Ah well...
John.
Oh - and I've been keeping an eye on the quick-build Chirpy.
It does go up quickly - but it does look like very hard work.
John (again).
hello all
hope everybody is well not had chance for a week or so to post anything been very busy as i might have some new work in the good ole us of a but will find out in the next month or so.
right i'm of to post on the tennis elbow game and a few of the others.
simonphw.
Ah well - quiet again here - night all.
John
Morning folks,
I've just updated my quickbuild site, nice to see you're looking at it John. We've almost finished and still have a whole day to go.
Yes it is hard work, but the most tiring thing is updating my website at the end of each day. Last night I didn't get to sleep until 3.30 in the morning.
Anyway, I've got to be there at 7.30 am. so I'd better get some shut eye.
Goodnight all,
Chirpy.
Morning Chirpy,
Morning all.
Dear Chirpy things on your site are looking good, best of luck for today, hope everything gets sorted.
Kind regards
Good evening all,
It's been a busy day - this is just to bring this back up the list.
John
Hi John, hi Stuart, hi everyone else!
Sorry I've been away so long, as you know I've been quite busy. Now that the hall is finished I'm going to be spending quite awhile editing 20 rolls of film! I only need a 45 minute movie! I've told everyone I'll see if I can also put together one of these six part 'fly on the wall' documentaries because there were so many funny moments and situations that will probably have to be left out of the main film. Oh what fun!
I had a real scare coming home yesterday afternoon and almost got myself killed. Since I opened my new website I've been returning home late at night from the build and posting the photos straight onto the site. This has sometimes taken me until 3.00 am. and then I've been shooting off to Dovercourt to start filming early the next day. I managed to do this five days in a row - being encouraged by the feedback on my 'guestbook' page and also by the number of visitors (including John and Stuart).
Anyway, all this burning the candle at both ends was taking its toll on me - walking around a construction site, up and down scaffolding, in and out of the loft and onto the roof for 12 to 15 hours a day is quite tiring! It's been really hot here too.
Yesterday, as everything was finished quite early I decided to come home at four o'clock. The sun was shining through my visor all the way home and it was quite difficult to see, as well as that I was quite exhausted and someone had said "be careful" but I didn't take much notice as I've never heard of anyone falling asleep at the handlebars!. About 5 miles from home I was finding it difficult to keep my eyes open and suddenly I found I had veered over to the centre white line! It was only a gradual thing - probably took about ten to fifteen seconds with my eyes shut! It frightened the life out of me because a few seconds later two cars came screaming towards me on the other side of the road.
To make matters hit home even more, the headline on the front of today's local paper said: MOTORCYCLIST DIES IN CRASH. When I read the story, it had happened just a short way from where I'd dozed off.
Anyway, that's enough from me, i'm going to update my site.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
God's keeping his eye on you Chirpy.
John
Thanks John, he knows how many people would've been disappointed if I didn't get the latest pics on the website - or get the video finished for that matter!
Chirpy.
Wots Dovercourt?
I bought my Audi from a garage called Dovercourt. The car is great. Dovercourt are crap.
Is this relevanT to anything apart fromn the fact that I am over 50? (just)
johnhardcastle,
The 'Dovercourt' in question is a place near Harwich where, for the past seven weeks, I've been filming the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses preparing a plot of land to build a new Kingdom Hall. The hall was constructed this weekend - with a little help from between 300 and 400 volunteers.
Chirpy.
P.S. There isn't a Dovercourt garage in Dovercourt.
(but there is one in Colchester)
First one here today I see
Too nice a day and Chirpy is probably still at Dovercourt.
Ah well - I'll look in again...
John
G'day all,
It seems this page stops when Chirpy is away - at the moment, anyway.
So, I'll have to look at the Dovercourt site to see what he's doing
John
Judging by the photo on here he tends to sit on his backside having his picture taken
SIFI
When he's not trying to keep away from the Dovercourt headless man

hello all
i forgot how long some of the threads take after youve replied to them.
hope everyone is well
simonphw
Hi folks,
No I'm not at Dovercourt until Friday when the carpet fitters arrive and the landscaping gets under way.
Sorry I've been gone a long time, I'm trying to do five things at once:
- Clean the pond.
- Install Windows XP.
- Get Norton Anti Virus to work. (So I can...)
- Read my email.
- Reconfigure the Guestbook on my website as a few annoying people keep leaving Urls to unsavoury website addresses.
John, the 'headless man' is trying to shove a bung up a loo outlet so we can have a water test - 'stand by your pan'!
Nice to hear you've visited my site, I'm going to have to redo it soon because I can't use any more pages and I've still got 98Mbs. of space to use!
Well, I've got to check that the pond isn't overflowing!
See you later,
Chirpy.

I know Chirpy, (I have read your site) but it's a great pic.
John
Sorry John, I realised that - being as I'd written a caption next to the picture. It was more for the benefit of anyone else who'd been reading this thread.
I think I'll get some shut-eye now.
G'night all,
Chirpy.
May I just comment Chirpy on a wonderfully designed site.
I was well impressed when I checked it out a week back. The design is simple yet really effective, and I do believe you have a good eye for good design. It is also well organised and to the point.
Just to prove a point about good design is that, to be fair, your project going on at Dovercourt would probably in most instances have me yawning off to sleep (no offence, just not my thing), but because of the aethsthetic value of the site I've found myself reading up and actually enjoying the site. So thank you!
The only one thing I think I could possibly comment on is that 'I think' the stills could have maybe done with a polarizer/UV filter, but that's just to my eye, and others may not agree. Otherwise a great website, and I look forward to any other quality pieces of work you throw at us.
Tim
Hi Tim, totally agree with you, credit where its due, nice site Chirpy. regards to all Pete.
Dear Tim and Pete,
Thank you for your comments, I was really quite taken aback to read them. However I really can't take too much credit for the design. The company I use, http://oneandone.co.uk have a very clever 'Website Creator' which allows you to scroll through many different ready-made designs. I just chose the one that closely resembled what my site was about, changed the colour scheme (which is similar to our bedroom wall!) and altered anything that didn't quite suit my requirements. I created my homepage within about 45 minutes. I agree with you though about keeping it simple.
My problem now is that I'm limited to 12 pages of which the guestbook takes up two. As I still have many more pictures to include, I'm aware that if I put too many on a page, those with slower modems will be waiting ages to see the latest ones (I should've done them in reverse and put the latest at the top of the page) which is why I have a seperate page for each day. At some point I will have to change the design completely because the Website Creator is not compatible with the disc they sent me to design my own page. But I will go for a similar design.
Re. the photos needing a poarizing/UV filter. All I used to take the pics was a facility on my Sony TRV320E Digital 8 camera. It holds a 128Mb. memory stick which holds 1320 pictures. I can also just use a still frame from the video to upload to my site. I've had to use the 'capture to file' facility in MSP to send them to a 120Mb. floppy disk and then upload them from there. Although since I loaded Windows XP I can't seem to get it to work. Maybe I'll use the player that comes with XP.
I tried to use a serial port cable that came with the camera but it seems to be broken - only three of the four wires gave a signal when I connected a voltmeter to them.
Tim, when I get time I'll clean them up with Paintshop Pro - some of the indoor shots suffer from the fluorescent lighting.
BTW, Pete, I've added your (brief) message to my guestbook.
Bye for now - got to try and add some more pics.
Chirpy.
Hi Chirpy,
perhaps i have read it wrong and if so im sorry..
But why dont you save the pictures to a desktop file ?
My documents/my pictures perhaps and upload them from the file on your computer ?
P.S. What headless man ?
I just thought it was someone with a long neck
Kind regards
Stuart

Hi all,
Chirpy, I hope you get your full-up website sorted soon - I'm missing the update pictures. It's not changed all week
Great site though - I look in each day to see how you were getting along.
John
Thanks Chirpy,
I missed that page.
Must rush - will look in again later.

Quiet here today, but it looks like Tim & Chirpy have had a good week.
Night all
Yes, it has been a good week for us all, I think, and yes, it has been quiet on this thread for while,..........probably due to our Chirpy's commitments. Fair play for keeping it updated daily mate, I know, it's a slog!
I couldn't have thought of a better ending than getting a job, but at the same time I've had people to support me through this shite period, in a fashion..........not very good...........but, better than nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guys, I think you are brilliant, and I hope to see you all at a meet/conference again, very soon!!
Chirpy, keep the cool site going, it is "wicked".
Tim
Morning all,
Hi Mick, hi Tim, sorry I'm neglecting the chatter forum but thank you all for being an understanding lot. You're right Tim, keeping the website up to date is a hard slog - but it's very rewarding when I look at the feedback I'm getting from here and from private emails and letters to the guestbook.
I should've updated it last night but I was so tired when I got home after a 13 hour shift all I had time to do was upload a picture of our indoor pond - one of the carpet fitters from London said she'd heard all about it from other friends of mine but she'd never seen it. So - in line with my sense of humour - I stuck a picture of it on one of the photo pages! It comes after:
End of part one
INTERMISSION
END OF INTERMISSION
Part two
(I borrowed that idea from the Beatles film: HELP!)
Anyway, I've just got time to add some more pics before the Grand Prix gets under way!
Bye for now,
Chirpy.
P.S. Sorry Tim, I'm so wrapped up in my website I forgot to wish you well in your new job.
Hi all
It was the AGM of the Federation of British Tape Recordists in Milton Keynes yesterday.
We had to change the name as no-one really uses tape much nowadays.
The new name is British Sound Recording Association - much more modern.
And - don't forget - the British Amateur Recording Contest closing date is only 2 months away (end of June) and we would love more video entries - please
John
John, you will post the details re. the contest on this forum won't you?
Chirpy.
Go to this site: http://www.soundhunters.com/barc/index.html
You will find contest details there and can download an entry form.
And Good Luck
John
Dear John,
I like mixing music from programmes such as "EJay" etc.. from samples..
Would that make me eligable for "3b Music - electronic, multi-track" ?
Obviously as long as i kept the track mix to within 3minutes?
Kindest regards
Stuart.
Thanks John, hopefully I'll be able to sort something out this year - no guesses as to what the subject will be!
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Morning all,
Stuart, ideally music needs to be recorded by you. However, if the music you use is copyright-free or you have written permission you should be OK.
John
Dear John,
The Ejay Samples, are small sounds, that you piece together yourself on a "timeline" and add further sounds "clips" to make your own music.
IE with the 32 track sound mixer you can add different "sounds" to each to make up a whole song of your own.
All samples are royalty free.
So the actual finished "song" is of your own making, and therefore yours to do with as you please, so to speak....
http://www.ejay.co.uk/
Shop... (my product dance Ejay3)
Kindest regards
Stuart
If it's all royalty-free you should be fine.
I would probably copy the relevant bit saying this and send it in with your entry to be sure.
John
Dear John,
Thank you for your Kind time and help.
Will be "Writing" (to my CDR Tomorrow), have just the track, that i composed earlier.
Kindest regards
Stuart.
Good luck in the competition Stuart
John
Goodnight folks,
Chirpy.
Well - it's been very quiet here today.
I've been spending all evening fdisking and re-installing Ol'ga's computer after she got all those viruses the other day
All done, just about, except for re-installing Eudora; I'll do that later.
Night all.
John
It's the First of May, that means I shall have to dig up my BeeGee's Cd again and play the song!
I've been looking up stuff re. my new camera for much of the day.
Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow when I've finished work. (If it doesn't rain again)
Goodnight all,
Chirpy.
P.S. Tracey's just made me a cuppa Horlicks. (she does that when she's taking time out from the local camera chucking competition!)
Be careful Chirpy,
A Hot Cup or Horlicks can do untold damage as well
Kind Regards

Cheers,

Really pleased
guess i know what you will be keeping away from Horlicks for a while
Am waiting for a telephone call from my repairer, was told it would be before the end of the week
Have not checked the phone for messages since i got back from the Hospital this morning,
Soon i hope..
Dear John,
Have made three new tracks,
x2 to enter into the 3b catagory
x1 to enter into the 5 catagory.
Just ordered a few very nice looking CD-R's silver surface with black "writing" side.
And a couple of Black/Black very posh.
Kindest regards all.
Hi all,
I've been spending this evening trying to finish re-installing Ol'ga's computer after she downloaded all those viruses
So - I have just re-installed Eudora and it's all fully working again
Now to bed ...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Oh - and good luck in the competition Stuart - and I like the sound of those fancy CD's.

moral of the story
DONT MESS WITH MRS CHIRPY
not when your camcorder is near anyway
I've just thought - wouldn't it make a brilliant advert on the telly! I can just see the camera sailing through the air in slow motion and exploding into millions of tiny pieces as it hits the wall...
I wonder if my insurance company would like it - or would it give people ideas?
Chirpy.
Hi All long time no post for me, but have been away a lot and very busy, I know this is not the place to do this but need some help FAST,.. I did some video on Sat, inbetween the rain storms of the Kart racing.. The club wants to put some clips on to there site, with the results..I have sorted some clips in Prem 5.1.. The prob is I cant sent the clips by e mail.. Can anyone tell me how to .IE how to exsport the clips, and in what file type so I can send them as an attatchment..Many thanks Pete.
Dear Peter,
Not much help im afraid but have sent you an e-mail with a suggestion.
Sorry but editing is still my weak point
Kind regards
Got "My Baby" back from the Repair centre this afternoon
In all fairness the estiamte was for "one week" and that is exactly how long it took.
Both internal mic's had gone, again which was on the estimate when i took it down there.
Had heads cleaned and checked as well,
Lovely Jubbly
Kind regards all.
Peter,
Have you sorted your problem yet? I would think you are going to struggle unless you have broadband. If you just have a normal connection the attachment would take longer than the post to get through.
SIFI
Hi Sifi, no have not sorted it yet!!,I am going to try just sorting some clips from each of the races for them to post with the results,so will get the books out to try and do some single frame outputs from prem. The trouble is this was the first time I did any videos for then, then had to go away for a couple of days,so its all become a rush,I intended to take up some edited tapes at the next race day and just play them through the projector, and see if any one wanted copies,I did not exspect the club to come straight to me so fast,Many thanks for the warning.Pete.
Pete,
Stills from Premiere are very easy to do, but the handbook makes it sound quite complicated. If you need help with this just pop up a post and I'll post you the instructions.
Off to a wedding now.
SIFI
Dear Peter,
Have sent you an E-Mail,

G'day all,
Re-decorating this weekend (or at least starting to).
Demolish tatty fake fireplace that was in the house when we moved in - stripping off the wallpaper, etc.
But it will be nice when it's finished.
John
What a day - I'm knackered !
How's Dovercourt doing Chirpy? Last update seems to be Thursday. ???
John
Dear John,
I expect Chirpy's holding onto his new toy VERY TIGHT
Hi all,
The last pictures were posted late last night on a new sub-page entitled Time to say goodbye.
I was going to put this morning's pics on but I've just got home and I'm feeling tired so I'm going to have a rest first.
See you later,
Chirpy.
Dear Chirpy (if i may) my husband tells me you may need more than a rest if you upset Mrs Chirpy again ?

Kindest regards all.
Dear Sally,
Congratulations on becoming our 6000th member - interesting that our 5000th member was also called Sally!
Wow, and you posted your first message to me on the 'Over 50's' thread... you're not are you?
Tracey will never live her little deed down will she! Never mind, we can laugh about it now - and I can enjoy my new toy.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Dear Chirpy,
No surprisingly i'm NOT over 50 it's just that as my first post I wanted something safe. but it is very exciting being 6000th but the 5000th was nothing to do with me
Good Luck with your new toy !!
[This message has been edited by Sally B-M (edited 05 May 2002).]
Dear Sally,
Glad to hear you're not over 50 yet!
No I realise the 5000th member was nothing to do with you - it was Tim's girlfriend, Sally Huxley.
I'm in the process of updating my website at the moment - which is quite difficult as I've suddenly developed an attack of the runs! That'll teach me to accept an invitation to go back to a family's house for lunch whilst I was in Dovercourt.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Hi Sally, welcome to the boards, Have emailed you both,Regards.Pete.
Welcome to Page Six...Pity we're all off to bed though.
Goodnight all,
Chirpy.
Chirpy,
I hope you are feeling better this morning,I think this forum is fantastic everyone is so friendly, although I knew that of course having met some of you at the Computer Video stand at Olympia (my first try of Mrs Chirpy's rice pudding)
and then at Wembley the following year. I missed the rice pudding then tho!
I realised the 5000th member was Tim's Sally as I have sadly never met Prince Andrew.
Thanks also to Peter Grendon for my first E-Mail from the forum I am just off to read it now. at this rate I will be catching up with Stuart and we will need a second P.C although if I need any help on the tecnical spec I will know where to come and ask.
Best wishes to you all
Sally B-M

Too much information
SIFI
Afternoon one and all,
Yes thanks Sally, I'm feeling much better. It couldn't have happened at a worse time, I'd just begun to update my website - having posted a message saying the next update would be at ____. I managed to get one picture posted and suddenly had to rush to the loo. Just as I was posting the next picture I got stomach cramp and had to rush to the loo again!
I think about an hour and a half went by before I managed to add any more pics.
Yes the forum members are a very friendly and helpful bunch - always knowing the right thing to say at the right time...as you can see from SIFI's comment.
It's not like me to lay-in, but these last two months have caught up on me so I didn't get up until about 10:30 this morning. (I beat Tracey and Kirsty by at least an hour!) Then I washed the dishes from last night, and I've just finished cleaning the aviary. We're going to sell the birds - complete with aviary - as there's too many other thing to occupy our time.
Now I have to update my website again so I'll say goodbye.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
P.S. So what's Stuart been up to then?

It could be anything. He can't get near the computer now
He he!
Actually he's watching the snooker, and looking a bit grumpy
.
I think the novelty of me getting my own replies to post's is wearing a bit thin now!
To be honnest he worked very hard in the garden over the past few day's and I think his leg is hurting more than he likes to let on.
Time for me to administer lots of TLC I think
although I expect he'll be posting at stupid O'clock when i'm watching the telly.

i'm obviously liking the sound of my own voice too much as I managed to post my last post twice.
sincere appologies

Sally,
If you ask Stuart nicely (a cuppa should help!) he'll show you how to delete a post.
Chirpy.
Chirpy,
I'm turning a bright shade of red here! he did show me this morning but I can't remember so i'm going to have to ask him again. (I think I must have had a naturaly blonde moment for a while).
Thanks

Evening all,
And welcome to the forum Sally B-M, I suppose I will have to get Ol'ga on when we get to 7,000
We have started redecorating the living room this weekend - very hard work - but at the rate we are going [b[Chirpy would have been able to build several Dovercourts
All we now have is a bare room and lots of holes that still need filling where we pulled off the old skirting board.
Maybe we can start painting next week.
John
She'll have to change her name to Sally first!quote:Previously posted by John Willett:

HI All burning the candle at both ends again, to much to do to little time!!.Guess I will have to go back to the books,re formatt my drive and start from scratch,I keep getting conflicting messages when I try to e mail video clips..UH back latter,Pete.
Dear Peter,
Hope you get it sorted out soon !
Kindest regards
Stuart
Dear John,(Mr Willett)
OH GOODNESS
I've never written a "Dear John" letter for public consumption before!!
Thank you for the welcome. I hope your decorating isn't going too badly, these things always seem like a good idea at the time, then you take off the old wallpaper or paint and remember why you hadn't started redecorating in the first place. still when it's finished it all seems worth it.
Hello to everyone else as well, even those who may have thought I was going to be a one day wonder. No chance I love this forum.
Stuart has once again been relegated to downstairs as I am on the computer.
Speak to you again soon
Sally B-m
Ha
Im Back !
Good Evening all,
We are now considering putting a 550w enermex into the computer, to cope with all this "on-Line" time
Regards all.
How about a second computer networked together and ntl broadband - you can then both be on-line at the same time
John
What a good idea John! I could even restart the 'tennis elbow foot' game so they could play each other!
I really must get on with some editing - it's just the thought of wading through 23 hours of videotape (25 if you include the extra 5 minutes you get on each roll).
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Hi Chirpy,
I've just been looking at Dovercourt again - what a shame the girl's pigtails were put right.
On the photo of the foyer, you could just see one door had pigtails up - you should have left it that way, much more fun
Anyway, from the photos you all did a great job - though thr only photo of you was sitting down
I just hope my living room will look as good when we finish.
John
Hi John,
Just to show everyone what you're talking about...
This is the way one of the loos looked up until Sunday afternoon! On the back of the head is a piece of paper which you peel off to reveal the sticky adhesive. Well only the bits on the end of the pigtails were removed and the head was stuck on the door in this position.
If you look closely at the second door from the left in this picture...
...you can just about see the pigtails turned up.
On Sunday, Charlie (one of the Elders in the congregation) said now that we'd all had a bit of fun he'd better put it the right way up...
...just in case.
In our hall we have a different design with just a white circle for the head: Small for children, medium for the woman, large for the man. We often swap them around or even remove the head altogether! Who said we don't have a sense of humour!
Yes the only photo of me is one of me sitting down. When I've waded through the hours of video I hope to add more photos of the groundwork done before the hall was built. There's at least one of me pushing a wheelbarrow.
Interestingly the building inspector wasn't going to 'pass' the drains as he had no recollection of seeing the work being done. Thankfully I just happened to be there on the day they were installing it and I was able to show him a 'still image' to jog his memory. I've also put a short four minute video together showing the gas pipe being installed in a trench. If I hadn't filmed it the gas board would make us dig it up and reinstall it.
I'm sure all your hard work and effort will pay off in the end John!
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Hello everyone,
just thought i'd pop in as Stuart's not online for the moment. I think it would be realy useful to be able to spell check before you post a reply, or can you and i'm missing something?
BFN
Sally B-M
hello all
i'm glad you added something to ouat and ouat(the musiacl) chirpy i thought i'd killed them off.

p.s.hello and welcome sally b-m
Hi Sally,
No that facility doesn't exist. You either have to write your post in 'WORD' and then copy/paste it to here, or come back and edit it if you got it wrong - which everyone then knows about because there's a tell-tale bit at the bottom of your post to say you've edited it.
There is another way though, but you can only do it if you spot the mistake before anyone else posts a reply...
If you keep pressing your 'Back button' until you come back to your original message you can change the bits that are wrong and repost it. Then you need to delete the first one with the mistakes in.
However, sometimes when you press your back button, all you get is a blank reply box. Then things get really complicated...
- Go back to your faulty message.
- Click on the 'Edit/Delete Message' icon above it.
- Put right any mistakes.
- Copy the whole message - then delete it by clicking the 'Delete' tick-box.
- Press 'Submit Reply'.
(You've now deleted the message but still saved a copy of it.)
It's very long winded I know, but me and John Willett do it all the time - or a variation of it. Usually we add the revised post before deleting the faulty one.
Hope that helps,
Chirpy.
Chirpy,
Thank you so much for all your help. hopefuly I won't have quite as many misteaks!
now. also I know some of the abreviations ie LOL etc but I am a little puzzled at ROFL as seen in one of the other threads "You have't lived until youv'e witnessed". Any clues or am I being exceptionaly dim?
Best wishes
Sally B-M
P.s. I asked Stu but he didn't know either
'Misteaks' Lol, I see you've been 'beefing up' your answers!quote:Originally posted by Sally B-M:

Sally, with regards to ROFL, AFAIK and FWIW, I think it means: Rolling On Floor Laughing, which - IMHO is good fun as laughter MTWABP.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Nice one Google
John
Actually John, I didn't find the answer on Google. It was Tracey who knew the answer, she uses a forum for people who enjoy doing Jigsaw Puzzles and someone used the term there. She also showed me a webpage where they have an A to Z list of acronyms.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Chirpy
could you please let me know what the web site is as I didn't understand the others either!!!
Many Thanks
Sally B-M
I knew someone would ask sooner or later!
It's: http://www.phish.net/faq/nabbrev.html
But you won't find what MTWABP means - I made that one up myself so I'll keep you guessing for a little while.
Chirpy.
ROFL Rolling On Floor Laughing

IMNSHO In My Not So Humble Opinion
ROFLMAO Rolling On Floor Laughing My A*** Off
AFAIK As Far As I Know

Sally...Wrong!!!
Actualy Chirpy,
I was commenting on Google's wonderful header this morning where they modelled the logo on Dali's melting clocks.
Unfortunately it's back to normal now and the link no longer works
John
Oh, sorry.
Never mind John, it was a nice picture though.
Chirpy.
Chirpy
this morning I am obviously in acrynm mode.
Could it be
MAKES THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
I wonder?
Best wishes Sally B-M
That's It! Well done Sally.
I'm not usually in or on the forum so early on a Saturday. In fact me and Kirsty went out early this morning to do our 'door knocking' but it was one of those: "...doesn't look as though it's raining much - however we'll probably get drenched if we stay out" type of mornings, so we came straight home.
As Tracey will be taking Kirsty to have her hair done soon, (I wanted a perm but they couldn't find enough hair to warrant using a comb!) I thought I'd have a go at updating my website as it's been a few days since I put any pics on it. I'll be able to add a few comments to the forum while I'm here.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Dear Chirpy,
Ithink I need help iv'e only been posting for a week but its becoming an addiction.
I'm now getting the same withering look from Stuart every time I go on the PC that he used to get from me on a regular basis.
Any advice from any one out there would be most welcome
Many Thanks
Sally B-M
P.S I do sort of have a life and i'm only on five hours a day now!!
Try making some Rice pudding.
Seriously though, I'm usually doing something else on the computer and if it wasn't for the fact that I get alerted when someone's posted a reply to one of my pages, I probably wouldn't visit anywhere near as much. Saying that though, if I'm on the forum I love to help someone if I possibly can. And, like Stuart, I love the challenge of searching for info for others.
Otherwise I guess it'll just end up with 'Cold Turkey' when you try to overcome it!
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Hi all - night all.
John
You've been quiet today John...or should I say yesterday?
Goodnight everyone,
Chirpy.
Well I know there are people about 'cos there's been a lot of posts around the forum, but it's gone quiet over here.
I didn't get up until about 10:00am. which is unusual. I only made one post and then helped Kirsty with her IQ scoring as she'd gone to bed when the answers came up. Sadly they didn't have a category for 14 year olds so she has no idea what her IQ is.
I watched the Grand Prix at lunchtime and - despite being a Schuey fan - was not at all impressed with Ferarri for making Reubens give his place up to his team mate. I know Schuey made Reubens get onto the top podium and even gave the trophy to him, but it wouldn't have meant the same. I'm not a national anthem person but I'm sure Reubens would have loved to hear his one playing. Bad call Ferarri, you deserved the 'Boo's' and you ought to have your constructor points deducted and Schuey's and Reuben's points put right for today's race. (that's the least that ought to happen)
I felt sorry for Norwich losing out on the Premiership. Oh well, I'm sure Birmingham deserved their win.
BFN,
Chirpy.
HI Chirpy, I did not watch the race I was up at the workshops!!but did hear about the team call, and agree with you.Its not like He needs the points is it.Pete
Yup that's right Pete, maybe this'll be a subject of debate between now and the next race.
Chirpy.
Evening all,
3 days - still redecorating.
This weekend was spent hiding a telephone cable to ustairs and installing, properly, some mains extensions - it's amazing how long this all takes.
Ah well - back to work tomorrow.
Chirpy definately built Dovercourt quicker
John.
John, why were you hiding the phone cable - didn't you want Olga to know about it?
We may have built Dovercourt quicker - but it's gonna take me forever to edit it.
Goodnight all,
Chirpy.
Ha ha Chirpy
The telephone point comes into the living room and I had drilled a hole in the ceiling and run a cable upstairs for extensions and computer modems.
However, Ol'ga is paranoid about seeing cables and, originally, the caple was stuck in small trunking up the corner of the room behind a bookcase (which is not there any longer so the cable is more visible).
I have now removed the trunking and chased the cable into the corner so now it is totally invisible - it now appears out if a blanking plate next to the main input phone socket
John
Boo! - that's an impersonation of John chasing his cable into the corner!
It's okay John, I did know what you meant, it's always made me laugh when that expression is used.
Tracey had a visit from one of her friends who she knew from Luton before we got married. Her and her husband moved to Colchester about ten years ago but now they're moving to Ipswich. Tracey's quite sad because she's always got on very well with them.
I've had a busy day helping out and doing the ironing - just popping in to add the odd comment to the forum. Otherwise, it's been a yucky day, outside it's not raining but it's trying very hard to. It's just very murky.
BFN,
Chirpy.
Hi John,
Glad to hear the time off work is being put to good use
Are you by any chance chasing the sound system leadset around as well ?
Kindest regards.

NO - it's hard enough work as it is.
I'm not sure exacly where the hi-fi is going and the cables will be hidden mostly behind bookshelves - at least, that's the plan.
John
Hey Stuart, what have you done with Sally today?
Dear Chirpy,
"Nothing" luckily Sally has been hard at work,
Im sure when she has the time she will be back to have a chat.
Dear John,
Is it one of those jobs that just gets "bigger" and more envolved as you go on, or do you both have it all planned.?
I normally start with a plan and then throw that out the window as soon as i "add" ideas as i go
Kindest regards all.
Hi Stuart,
Rough plan only - we know what we want to do and just plough ahead.
But it's taking longer than Ol'ga thought it would.
Preparation takes a very long time
John
Dear John,
But hopefully well worth the effort.
My first job was an apprentice Panel Beater and Car Sprayer........
Believe me i know the word preparation
But as in all things the better the preparation the better the finished......
Kindest regards and best wishes.
Regards all
Hello Chums
I was working hard yesterday doing some training at work so I was Totaly Shattered when I got in.
But i'm back now!
Best Wishes
Sally B-M
Hey Sally, how come you're wearing Stuart's UserName?
Because he's wearing her .....
John
...happy smiling face. Isn't that what you were going to say John?
G'night folks.
Chirpy.
I hope so.......
I certainly would not be wearing anything else that Sally ownes !

Just because i had to wear that stocking its gone to your heads.
Kind regards all.
It was what you held your stocking up with that prompted John's comment!
It's quiet tonight - maybe you had problems accessing the board just after 10:00 pm. like I did.
Anyway, goodnight all,
Chirpy.
Morning all,
Morning Chirpy
Yup - I, too, could not access the boards late last night. And also, Chirpy, I could not get an e-mail through to you in reply to yours to me. It kept bouncing until I gave up (after about 6 tries)
And its still not working as I have just this moment had a message saying "cannot route to chirpy.net" in reference to an e-mail I sent to you a few minutes ago.
I only hope you see this
John
[This message has been edited by John Willett (edited 16 May 2002).]
I replied to an e-mail from Chirpy late last night as well and it bounced then ?
Regards all.
Not just me then...
I wonder if Tracey has thrown the computer at him
John
Sorry everyone, I racked my brains trying to work out what the problem could've been.
- Upgrading to Windows XP - that caused problems with Norton Antivirus 2001?
- Changing each email account so it didn't go via Norton?
- My new 'Ontrack System Suite' PC Maintenance and Security program?
- Updating Incredimail to the latest edition?
In the end I tried accessing my www.chirpy.net homepage and got an error message. It turned out that they couldn't debit my bank account as I'd recently got a new visa card and the number was different. So they froze my web account - which has been put right now but my emails may take a bit longer. Seems I've lost all the 'bounced' ones though.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
Dear Chirpy,
Hope that it is all sorted now, but you may have another problem
Norton AntiVirus 2001 is supposidly not compatable with XP.
http://service2.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001051413133206
Kindest regards.
Stuart,
That's why I uninstalled it and reconfigured Incredimail and installed 'Ontrack System Suite'.
Chirpy.
P.S Email still not working.

But it is now
Yes that's right John, it's just as well - it was giving poor Bob a real headache being as all my forum notifications were bouncing straight back to him!
Chirpy.
Good morning all,
And I'm glad Chirpy is back to normal again (whatever that is)
John
[John],
Did you mean me or my email being back to normal?
Yes

Goodnight folks, don't stay up too late trying to fly helicopters!
Chirpy.
Good morning all,
Goodnight Chirpy
John
Well, it is quiet here today.
I've been busy decorating all day - what's your excuse
John
My excuse...I've spent the day cleaning up and repotting seventeen orchids, given the pond a clean, pulled the yucky bits out of one of the pumps, got rid of the ants in the African violets and made an awful mess in the kitchen. I'll just have to clean that out tomorrow as I'm too tired to do it now.
Goodnght all,
Chirpy.
Afternoon all,
Only a little bit of decorating today - rest time
John

WECCOME to Page 8

John, what's a Weccome?
Hi all, I've finally added my name to the party at mooblie's place next month - as long as they don't decide to have the opening day at Dovercourt on that day as I'll be expected to have a short version of the film for them.
I wonder if anyone knows what 24th May will be the first anniversary of? Any guesses?
Cheers,
Chirpy.
1st Anniversary
Hmmmm Chatter Forum?
Over 50's thread?
One of those two.
And what was wrong with that guy's BMW?
Tim
Chatter Forum of course.
LOTR has alrady posted - he beat you to it Chirpy
Special message to Tracey:
I really hope you are feeling better and can make it to the party with Chirpy. We would love to see you - with or without rice pudding. We have to meet the lady who makes Chirpy so happy.
John
Tim...? Sorry, did I miss something, what BMW? Or are you referring to Bradley-Meech & Willett?
quote:Originally posted three timesYeh - but look at the time of his post!by John Willett: LOTR has alr(e)ady posted - he beat you to it Chirpy
Chirpy.
Yep Chirpy it was your post that made me look it up, and bring it back to the top so everyone could see where it started.
John you should know by now
Chirpy is always first on the draw
in Chatter.
Chirpy,
If you remember, a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away. There was a thread titled, So what's wrong with my BMW?. This was blatantly off topic, and peeps kept getting miffed with the amount of off topic threads. It was then that I suggested the creation of a place to go where we post all of our off topic stuff, and henceforth the creation of 'Chatter' by Bob.
The old thread, So what's wrong with my BMW? has disappeared and I never remembered what was actually wrong with it.
Tim
LOTR, at last you got your message posted! I must have seen about three different versions and couldn't work out why you kept deleting them. Then I realised it was because you were 'quoting a quote'. Whenever anyone tries to do that it comes out wrong - the '
' bit always appears on the page. There is a way around it but it's complicated! Anyway, well done for digging up Bob's original thread.
Tim, believe it or not I never read that BMW thread! I do remember it but as with many threads that don't stir my curiosity, I didn't bother to look at it.
Re. Why does it no longer exist? Probably because Chaifox - the originator - (I think) was kicked off the forum for something or another.
BTW, once again, 'Thanks' for getting Bob to start the 'Chatter' forum - we love it!
Chirpy.

Chirpy
I thought it was Morse as he is now a member of the unregistered brigade.
LOTR, try typing his name into the search facility, nothing comes up at all. Just to make sure it works I typed Hawk into there as well...it soon filled up!
BTW, yes I realise Morse went down that road too.
I'm going to watch 'Serendipity' with Tracey now.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
There we were, just about to have dinner, when the doorbell rang (it's a buzzer actually) and Gordon & Shirley from Dovercourt were standing there with a large bouquet of flowers for Tracey...
...It was from the congregation, who wanted to express their thanks and appreciation to Tracey for having to cope without me while I was filming them building their new hall.
Wasn't that sweet!
Pleasant dreams,
David & Tracey.

Afternoon all,
Tracey must have a room-full of flowers by now Chirpy
John
Yes and she didn't have to smash anything this time John!
Lucky for you Chirpy
John
John

...Not long to go until mooblie's party!
...But first it's bedtime.
Night night,
Chirpy.
Hi all,
Thankfully I don't have anything to do today - not outdoors anyway. I've just got some accounting to do from the luxury of my comfy executive swivel chair! How boring.
It's wet and windy outside, am I glad we did all our work at Dovercourt in March and April! Funny, when we did a similar project in Clacton two years ago, we had good weather then too. It doesn't always work out that way though.
So 'Chatter' is one year old today, I wonder how many posts we'de have made if the 'Chatter' forum had never opened? I doubt I'd have even reached 500 posts by now! Mind you I'd have got an awful lot of other stuff done. Not as much fun though!
I guess if 'Chatter' hadn't opened we wouldn't be having the 5000 members party would we? So: "Thanks Bob, thanks Tim, thanks mooblie".
Best of all it's brought many of the members a lot closer together as we've come to know each other better. "Thanks everybody".
Well, back to the boring work.
Cheers,
Chirpy.
